509 ... I hate to sound like one of your parents but what you are proposing doesn't make any sense. Take out a loan when you don't have a job? Not very smart. The other thing... Buy a way powerful scooter with a loan so you can take it to the track? I know you are young and you still think you are superman but.... What happens if while you are in one of your races you lose control and smash up the bike? Now you are in the hospital.. the bike is totaled and you still have a loan to pay along with all these new medical bills. Now you are going to tell me the bike is insured... Bet that coverage gets cancelled if you wreck it in a race.

I am not being a dick mind you. I am just giving you the voice of practical experience. I was a troubled youth once and over the years I had many young guys like you work for me that were always in trouble with DUIs, wrecks, and what have you. Come on man... Use your brains... That's what God gave them to you for.

To speak further on this, 509, I don't mean to criticize you as I don't well know you. I will say that you sound to me like an intelligent man, and I have no desire to demean you. If I thought you were an idiot, I would have no advice for you, but as it is, I have a lot of hope for you. I want to see you succeed as much as anyone here, and would certainly hate to see you get hurt.

I have no advice to give on street racing. You must use your own discretion on that matter. I personally would not discourage you from taking your bike to the drag strip, if you have the disposable income to do so, and were willing to deal with the risks to your person and your machinery. If you know how to ride, shame on you if you can't make a pass without a wreck, most of the time. The fact is, though, shit happens once in a while. A botched holeshot, or worse yet a high speed braking mishap can really make a mess of things for you.

Something is as simple as trying to make a pass too soon after they spray traction compound, or the asshole that ran before you dumping the coolant he wasn't supposed to be running on the track can throw you a hell of a curveball. Also, a missed shift and a damaged trans can happen to anyone, and does. It sucks if you have to ride around everywhere holding it in second gear because it pops out otherwise, and you can't afford to fix it. There's nothing wrong with having fun, but I wouldn't count on income from betting.

If you want a bike to get you to work and back, a good one is not hard to find. Otherwise, I can't do much more than wish you luck. Whatever you choose to do, good luck.

by street racing i mean blocked off sanctioned street races that they do have once in a while that my buddy goes to, and no im not saying im gonna make a crap load of money cause on a stockish bike i wont win all the time, and panama the loan i am taking out cause i just found out about bonds that i have that were put in my name ever since i was born but can't get them for a year and a half so i am getting a loan that is 2k under what im getting so i have no problem paying that off and its to make sure i have money down there for a few months till i can get started up, and i wont be going to the track everyday running against full on race bikes just runs against other stock bikes once a week or so to make some extra cash and i wont be doing it like most teens do and not use protective clothes

Yeah i agree with these guys doesn't sound like a good idea, you don't have enough cash but you go and buy a bike and romp on it and blow your motor up now you just lost more money than you ever made if you ever even won on a stock bike.

right now i am in the proccess of trying to sell my exploder for 800 and buy a 89 fzr 600 for 1k that has fresh motor and r1 farings so im doing better on the money part but am still taking the loan out for a place

I have two 600 Fizzers, a 94 and a 96. They are fun bikes. Rear tire selection is limited, but I have no other major complaints. Being as it has aftermarket plastics, I would ride it before you buy it just to make sure it wasn't wrecked hard. If it tracks straight and doesn't act significantly different in left and right turns, it should be fine. As long as the shocks have some damping left in them it should be a fun ride and a decent commuter. If it has the narrow rear wheel, 3.5" I think, it could be worth swapping to the wider one, 4" I think it is. Good luck.
