Looking for tranmission 1988 Ranger

Does anyone have a M5OD R1 transmission for sale for my 1988 V6 2.9l 5speed 2wd Ranger or a different tranny that may work in it. I may buy complete truck for parts also. I live in the Southern Ontario area. Thanks

trans from a 4.0 5spd will work IIRC. probly more common and have a more durable clutch. the 2.8/2.9/4.0 v6 share bolt patterns. im thinking any ranger with a non 3.0 v6 made 1988 onward would have the trans you need.

The clutch has absolutely nothing to do with it. If he tries to put a 4.0 clutch (due to his potential 4.0 trans as you suggest) on his 2.9 flywheel he will have a lot of issues. Mostly because of the clutch disc being bigger than the flywheel.

A 2.9 clutch will work fine with a 4.0 trans.
