I have been searching for the right donor for my 1986 Bronco 2. At first I was going with the explorer d35 swap because it was relatively easy and bolt in. Well I have been thinking about it more and more and I don't know if I just want to take the easy route. A fellow member here posted a thread where he is taking the drive train out of a 1986 F-250 4x4 and putting it into his bronco. What would that consist of? I understand you would have to fab new mounts and etc but would you shorten the F-250 axles down to the original B2 axles width? I'd like to make my B2 different from every other 4.0 D35 B2's here because they are dime a dozen. I am not a skilled fabricator yet but with this project i will learn :icon_welder:

If you wanna run a ttb d44 you could take the easy way and order copykats d44 brackets and then the d44 would just bolt in but you'd have to message him on another forum. I've also heard that you can extend them 1inch at the pivot to bolt them in. Both these way keep them at full width instead of shortening them.

wow that makes it a lot easier because I want to think if you shorten the axles then if you ever broken one and you had to replace an axle you would have to buy one and then shorten your new one and that could be a headache.

any idea where i can find copycat? is he a member here on TRS?

might be able to pm him at rrorc.com

running the ttb d44 is ideal, the ttb 50 is setup for leaf and the drivers side is short....basically extend the d50 beam a bit and using it with coils gets you a tough ttb setup. but its a heavy bastard too.

then its welcome to steering college.

The F-250 D44 is leaf also.
You want a F-150 axle if you're trying to swap it into a RBV (which is what Copykat's brackets are made for).

Any particular year f150? A f150 would be good because I want to put a v8 in my b2

83 to 96. Post 93 will have the best brake setup.
