So gettin ready to dive in to a bulid, I have a 97 ranger std cab, 351w auto , 205(I think) and a 79(?) bronco rolling chassis with d44/9".

Really have been debating to swaping my cab over on the bronco frame,Seems like i'd gain more clearance for the headers, and the fact that the 351 will bolt in, and all ready has the solid axle.

So what everones thought, use ranger frame or sas/v8 my stock ranger frame?

btw cab is all ready gutted, front sheetmetal gone, dash will be comeing out along with ever outher thing in the cab so it wont be very heavy to set on/off.

Putting the cab on the bigger frame makes more sense.

With the doors, hood, and front fenders removed the regular cab is very light and easy to maneuver...I did my first cab swap with a farm forklift and even put the motor on and transmission in place using the same method...

The only major work to prepare for that would be relocating the cab mounts...and that seems like child's play to anyone with the right tools...

You could create a poll post and have members simply vote as well as adding any comments from experience...there have been a few over the years that I've read about that did the cab onto different frame...

yeah what i'm looking for, I have found 1 pic of a reg cab on a bronco frame, Body mounts should't be to hard to make. I got a decent mig, torch and ext. My biggest concern is how high the body will have to be off the frame (wanting to keep this thing low as possible)

Yes, that is a concern that needs to be addressed. At one point I was thinking about mounting an ext cab on a reg cab frame. The biggest problem with that was a choice between hacking the cab to keep it lower to the frame or using an absurd amount of body lift to keep the cab intact.

I decided in the long run that neither was acceptable and found an extended cab on a frame that worked better...

I'm sure there are others with experience or insight that will be helpful. I was just reading a thread on here about someone mounting a 351 on a Ranger frame and they had to cut the back end of the transmission tunnel to get things to sit properly. That was after moving the engine forward as far as possible without moving the rad mount...so people are working things out...just a matter of time and money sometimes...
