Locked in 4 wheel drive

I have a 98 ranger that is locked in 4 wheel drive, when I start the truck the 4x4 high and 4x4 low range blink several times then go out but it is still in 4 wheel drive even though the switch is in 2 wheel. I can put it in any position I want but nothing happens. Is the motor bad on the transfer case. Thanks

Sounds like your shift motor is bad.

If you need to drive it, take the motor off and use a pair of pliers to turn the shift pin to 2wd.

shift motor has been replaced nbut still not working. when I turn the truck on the 4 wheel high and low indacator lights flash 6 times, this has to be some kind of code, does anyone know what it is?

did you move the shifter arm in the t-case to the 2wd location with a pair of pliers like I told you to?

Were you 100% sure that the motor you got to replace it was good? If it was used it may have dirty contacts as your old one likely did.
