Have had a lockright in the front for 4 years or so now. The truck sat for 2-3 years. It has always popped loud. I have one in the rear its nearly silent besides ratching in corners and an occasinal bang or pop. People think my truck is going to explode into a million tiny pieces in four wheel drive from the noise it makes.
I went off roading. The driver side front tire would spin and then pop and shake, and stop spinning. Unlocked that hub, the passenger side is fine. No noise nothing. Switched the hubs out with new ones. Driver side is not as bad but still acts like its binding up from time to time. I can back up and go forward with a some more gas and it will stop.
I have maybe 7 trips on the front diff total in 4 years. Could it need shimmed more on one side? If so where would I get more shims? It just seems odd how it would do it on one side. Splines looked good on the inside when i put it back together a few months ago.
