Load E too much?

I've got stock 16" rims. Factory tire size is 245/75/16.

Most A/T tires in this size are load E. Is that too much? Any drawback to that other than a stiffer ride. Can't I run them at 30psi? No need for the full 80psi rating.

I run LT265/75r16's on my sport trac and the only rating they come in is E. I run them at the door sticker pressure like you are supposed to (read the sidewall of the tire, it will tell you to run the manufacturer recommended pressure)

You will have no problems, other than the tires riding a bit stiffer.

The only real draw back is E's is they are expensive but if thats all they offer in your size what can you do?

That is not all they offer in those sizes you know... a 265/75R16 is stock size for many chevys and stuff which are all standard load tires, same with 245/57R16's. If you guys can't find standard load tires in those sizes theres something wrong with the places you shop for tires.

That said Load E tires are more expensive and heavier thats about it.

a standardized pressure is 35 psi the rest is your choice more or less. The tire can take some pressure shows on the Tread not considered a maximum pressure
UNDER less pressure to 35psi

P tires ride one hell of a lot better than LT tires. Using LT tires on a Ranger makes no sense unless that's all you can do. Be prepared for a nut busting ride.
The vehicle manufacturer puts tire pressure recommendations on the door jamb and it pretty obvious that's what you should run.

I always ride at 40 psi and off-road path,UNDER less pressure to 35psi

Never heard on someone running more pressure off road than on road. I would think the opposite should be true.

My Ranger rides just fine with LT Load Range C mud tires.

P = Passenger = Car/SUV

LT = Light Truck

I wouldn't run Load Range E tires on a Ranger though, but that is just me. :icon_thumby:

I never purchase P rated tires for my vehicles that will be used offroad. I always step up to the LT rating if there is a choice, sometimes there isn't a choice so then I go to a different size or type of tire that offers an LT rating. LT tires are heavier duty and more puncture resistant than a P rated tire. I currently have C load rated tires on my Ranger and someone recently even mentioned to me how smooth the ride was! I just chuckled when he said that.

I would agree that an E rated tire is overkill for anything you would do with a Ranger, unless you just have a Ranger body and underneath is a complete F250 chassis.

tcheck the label in the door recommandation psi tire:lt is a difference between a LT TIRE and P TIRE
SIDEWALL manufacturer recommended pressure
press 2 for spanish and press 3 for italian and press4 for other guay of world

I was looking at the BFG A/T's. No C rated tires in 16".

I want something that can handle long days on logging roads.

Take a look at the 265/70R16 BFG AT, load range D. It's listed as 30.7" tall compared to 30.2" for the 245/75R16.

it takes all 35psi I've got stock 16" rims. Factory tire size is ---/--/-- «---your choice nada get the over size

I appologize, I incorrectly stated the 245/75R16 BFG AT as 30.2". It is actually listed as 30.5" on their website.

Maybe I'll just keep my eyes open for some cheap 15" rims so I can get the BFG's in a C rating. That is what the FX4 have.

The 265/70R16's are more expensive. Would a D rating be any better?
