Lifting my 97

Good work Tim...

Are you really wasting hydroboosters??? :p

Maybe......

Trying to get past that now....

Heres the 3rd and final hydrobooster for this project.

This one is a little different from the other 2 boosters I have killed. It is completely cast iron, no aluminum. The little gas cylinder is also a different shape.

Making the push rod that goes between the brake booster and the master cylinder.

The adjustable push rod from the stock vacuum booster.

Welding it up.

And reassembly.

Making the final adjustments to the push rod. There is a specification that the rod stick out 0.995" from the face of the booster.

Then I had to fight with the brake light switch a little bit to make it work with the pedal rod going to the hydroboost unit.

And then I finshed up the bump out windows.

And then a package came for me. :yahoo: This is a stock F150 and Expedition tranny cooler.

I attached the pieces of aluminum angle iron with pop rivets. I have never used them before but I have to say, they have their uses and are very easy to use.

Any bigger and that tranny/PS cooler would not have fit. (I completely forgot to think about how I was going to fit this in there when I ordered it on ebay)

Tomorrow I will pick up some more hose to finish the cooler lines, some power steering fluid to flush the ATF out of the system and some hose clamps.

Haha yes, late night wrenching party! Looking good.

hey sleep! that seems good.. its 445am an iam just getting home from wrenching on my stuff.. haha

tim you gotta black out the grille..

i'm on spring break, whats good this week?

Bumper looks great, nice job!

Semi gloss actually and yes, way better than that DIY bedliner crap,

Replaced a leaky wheel cylinder today, changed the oil, (yeah I know its only run for like 20 minutes,) and started fighting with the cooling system.

It was over heating so I replaced the thermostat, but the problem is still there. I dont know if I just am not getting the air out and its warming up too fast or if the temp sensor is bad or if the pump isnt actually pumping for some reason.

Temp sensor is bad. Yay easy fix.

Started working on frenching the lights into the rear bumper.

Yes I am using a cordless drill to spin a 4" hole saw through 1/4" steel......... My drill has balls........

P3140073.jpg

Then the bed came off to start work on the rear.
P3140074.jpg

Starting with dropping the gas tank to take care of the support straps which are rotted to hell and to inspect the frame next to the gas tank where it collects all that crap.
P3140075.jpg

P3140077.jpg

There was alot of crap in there but it wasnt rotted as bad as I had feared.

And then with the bed off, my thoughts are turning to how I want to protect my drive shaft.

The plan is to build a traction bar to help with my 5" blocks and that will hang slightly below the drive shaft to protect it from rock ledges and such.

Also, notice how the shaft is missing alot of paint? That was freshly painted about 5 months ago!!!!

Whats left of one of the gas tank straps.
P3140094.jpg

I will also be moving my rear hangers slightly to improve my shackle angle.

Your tank straps came out like mine did last week huh?
