Lifting a 94 xlt 4x4

Just bought a 94 Ranger XLT 4x4 and hade a couple of questions. I done some searches but couldn;t find the clear answer I was looking for.

I have a broken leaf on 1 side in the rear, so was going to change both packs (they are saggy) and came across the thread about using explorer leafs.

My question is that since some explorers have 5 leaf and some are 4 leaf which is more commonly used?Also from what years?How is the ride after the swap?

Also I would like the truck to sit level after the swap so what is done in the front to compinsate for lifting the rear?

Do the stock shocks allow for travel after the lift front and back?

What size tires can I run with zero rub after the lift on stock 15" rims?

I appreciate any help and knowledge given. I'm new to the Ranger scene, I've been playin with Zuks for the last 10 years.

Also on a side note what gears would be in a stock 94 XLT 4x4?

gears are probably 3 73s...but have a look on the tag on the rear diff, it will tell you what you have. Explorer leaves ride nice, i had a 4 leaf pack. It will lift you about 2 inches. Youre going to want maybe coil spacers or something cheap for teh front, as the rear WILL sit higher if you swap out for teh explorer pack.
 
I have yet to see a 5-leaf pack. Most were 4-leafs with a few 3-leaf packs (90-94 Sport) and a few monoleafs (95-00 Sport).

The most common would be a "F code" spring set from a 95-01 4dr XLT 4x4.
 
Well I checked the tag on the inside of the door and the axle is R6 and from the charts I found in the tech section says thats 3.73 Limited Slip. Guess that means it will transfer the power to the tire with the traction and not spinning helplessly in the air:yahoo:

Im going to be doing the same thing soon, exploder leafs and coil spacers up front.
Anyways im pretty sure you can run 33/10.50s. thats what i am going to try if i can find a set on c list, if i have to trim the fenders i will
 
^^^ hahaha are you serious 33/10.50s with explorer leafs and coil spacers are you nuts. you need a bl and most of the time coil spacers to clear 33s in the front. you are going to have to cut a hell of alot of fender to clear 33s with just coil spacers.
 
Wrong.
33x10.50s will fit no problem. They might not be "zero rub" though, but what rubbing there is should be minor.

For zero rub, go with 32x11.50s.
 
I was thinking of running some 31x11.5x15s. I have a set of LTBs on my sidekick and would like to put on 33s, so I will have them just lying around.

Is it a 2in coil spacer that you guys put in the front to level out after the explorer leaf swap?

Im gunna do some trimming, and i might get 33/12.50s with wheel spacers
 
from what I understand from the link those spacers will level a ranger with stock leafs in the back, do the explorer leafs not give you some lift? So I would still be sitting nose down after the spacers are installed?
 
if you use are going to use coil spacers, then when you install the explorer leaves DO NOT use the 2 inch block (ie remove it). That should make sure its about level.
