so during my swap i figured i'd replace the lifters when i do the headgaskets and stuff with the motor out.

checking the prices on lifters at advance auto parts, the clevite and sealed power 65 and 40 bucks a piece:icon_surprised: (similar at oreileys) but the crane ones listed for the same motor is listed at 70 for the set of 12.

whats wrong with crane lifters?

What motor?

Don't replace the lifters. Take them apart, clean them with your gun cleaning kit, put them back together.

93 explorer 4.0. so i guess that a 1st gen 4.0? just thought i'd replace em since they have a bad rep and i heard a little lifter tick when it was still put together. but if cleaning them will accomplish the same thing then i'll do that

Its not the lifters, but rather the pushrod tips and rocker arm sockets that wear...you will want to inspect those and replace if necessary.

:agree: other end of the rockerarm on the valve ends, get pretty pitted on abused engines.
