thats like that ga clay shit we have around here. looks dried up and cracked up. some of it will be dry then all of a sudden drop, and at that point theres nothing u can do unless u have 400hp and some big ass tires. we got 2 jeeps stuck, mine with 383, d60's, 38.5 boggers locked f&r, and my buddys d60/14b locked f&r on 42" tsl's stuck at the same time(he went around me to pull me out) burnt up 2 winches, broke a hub on his, grinded my rear drivers wheel down to bare metal, broke 2 20ton come alongs, got a tractor stuck(big un), the neighbors kubota, and finally got it all pulled out by one of those long road scraper things that my buddy "borrowed"(hey i told him not to do it lol) from where the road work crew left for the day. stuck for 8 hours and it sucked.

It's horrible stuff. I'm not sure what to call it. It's a quick sand of sorts and dries like concrete.

It took a tractor from the local grain elevator to free me from that hole of hell.

If you put some terrain appropriate treads on that ranger instead of them "mall terrains", you might have better luck!!
Never ceases to amaze me, guys spend thousands lifting and jacking em up and they never even see a gravel road!
ORRRR they try to offroad like hell on "Mall Terrains"!

I've been turning a wrench for several moons!
And there isn't a 73 shortbed ever built that could run 38s without a lift or fender trimming!
You may not have done it or knew who did it, but if it had 38s it had something for tire clearance, because they ain't fitting!

it looks like it had fender trimming done, my dad had a 77 hiboy with 33''s on it stock but i bet it coulda cleared 38''s

As I said "some sort of tire clearancing"!
You had it protrayed as stock and 6" of fender cutting sure ain't stock or trimming!

We went to a river bottom bog April long weekend 2010. Here are some pics.

My buddy Jerski stuck in a river bottom.

33" Boggers, 4" SJ, 2" BL.
A big block Chev on 40's...

Jerski sunk again.

My Ranger stuck. Old 33's weren't great in mud, and open diffs suck.
