Hood, Helmet, Shield, Mask.

Everyone calls it something different. It doesn't really matter.

I've got a Lincoln Viking auto darkening that I use at home. I like it for what I paid for it.

samsies, auto darkening is the only way to go

mine doesnt have all the stickers tho. i'm struggling keeping my inner redneck from applying a fresh camo paint job

Had these for over 15 years.A friend did the airbrush work and had it in his catalog in the store he ran.It was one of his most requested jobs for hoods he ever had and he told them no...it was one of one..lol.

Arc one's Python and Carreras hoods are alright if you are not doing TIG, the arc sensors do not always recognize the high freakency arc so sometimes the filter won't flash. Also they use a curved outer Polycarb that are hard to find and are about twice as expensive then a standard flat Polycarb. I don't know about their other hoods though.

Speedglas makes a damn fine hood. They make the lightest hood. The 9000 series is the Cadillac of welding hoods. They are more comfortable and expensive then the Miller Elites, but the Elites have more adjustability.

I do everything from low amperage TIG(3 amps) to submerged arc with my Elite, so I need the adjustability, and I could not be happier.

i actually tried the speedglas a few times and didnt like it near as much as the miller. it was lighter but alot tighter around your face and in just the right spot it would flash on me the miller i can be looking through a 1 inch slit and not get flashed with the way the sensors are placed

Just your run of the mill fibre metal welding hood with a #9 lens ( i have the inner headband and bump cap removed to cut on it some so its lighter and fits over the hard hat better)
