Let Me see you CB!

yeah, it took a bit of time to make enough room for the CB. I used to have it under the dash, but i couldn't put big cups in my cup holder because the CB stuck out too far.

I am pleased with what I ended up with. Now I don't have an ashtray to put change in. So last night I decided to turned my 60/40 seats into two bucket seats to make room for a center console out of and Exploder. I think that was the only logical way to solve the problem:blush:

yeah i wanna cut my 60 up to 1-10 how hard is it?
i might be able to get my hands on a nice set of explorer full electric heated leather buckets but not sure yet so illl do with what i have.

I took the cover and cushion off of my driver seat (the cover is just clipped on underneath), then I cut the frame from the extra 20% off. I went to the junk yard and found a passenger seat that was the same style and got the bottom cover and cushion from it. I just put the cushion and cover from the jyard pass seat on my driver's seat frame. It looks identical to the pass seat just the handle is on the left side. I did find a factory exploder drivers seat like the one I made but it was all nasty and stained. I also took a back coushion off a pass seat so I wouldnt have hole where the armrest used to be. It isn't hard at allto do, it just takes some time to find a seat in the jyard that is in decent shape.

I will post some pics some time if you want

yeah it sounds like a piece of cake, i just need to find time to do it.

WOW?? what did you do with the airbag?

airbag? what airbag. lol passenger side airbags are a luxury or at least were my 97 doesn't have one either. It reminds me of my '83 stang it didn't even have an airbag for the driver

I didn't read all of the posts so if I am repeating sorry...

2500 watts... where are you going to get the amperage to run this thing ?

I am not even sure if my calculations are correct but it is going to take three or four 200 amp alternators to get enough power to the amp alone. :yahoo:

I know that is pushing it but it will take a lot of current to run it.

What size wire is the feed lines on this amp ?

It would take
178-179 amps to run 2500 watts at 14 volts.

A lot of amperage anyway you put it, but I calculate about two to three times that amount.

CB Mounting - When I had my '88 Ranger 5.0, I made a small overhead console out of Oak and Aluminum. Mounted a Uniden 520 w/Pwr Mic to it, it worked great and as it turned out not too much weight for the head liner.

On my latest Ranger an '03 I will be mounting the CB just behind the shifter on the floor; too big to mount overhead. (TRC Unit with a little extra power not much though)

I would think anyone could make a small console to fit the same location and mount their CB between the shifter and the seat, facing upwards for viewing. (60/40 split bench)

When I get there, COLD outside right now, I will get pics.
The overhead area between the Sun Visors will be reserved for the Tri-Band HAM Rig Face Plate and maybe a couple of switches for the OR lights.

GoodysGotaCuda, Im running my cb in the same place right now except my mic is mounted just to the right of the steering column... think im gunna change that if the cord starts to hit my leg...

For now i got two 4 ft fiberglass antennas that were free im going to mount on the bedsides right behind the cab..

Power (W) = Amperage (A) x Voltage (V)

So for 2500 Watts, he would need (at 14 volts) around 179 amps rounded up.

2500/14=179

How are you calculating it?

you have to take efficiency into play too, nothing is 100% efficient.
