Legality of no bed.

No you have it all wrong.Anything above Yonkers is upstate and anything below Albany is NYC.:D
NY is more region based.Central,Mohawk,Southern Tier, etc. When I think of upstate your talking Plattsburg or Malone. Its all based on where you grew up.

wow i see plattsburgh an malone! haha thats my area i consider this UPSTATE ny.. how much further north can you get..... lol

Thread Jackers :D

Back to the legality.. I would think it wouldn't be legal because its kind of exposed, and in an accident imagine if some little car got stuck in between the rear wheel and the cab.

I'm sure New York has it's code published on the internet. Try googling 'New York Code".

Indiana has no mudflap law. New York might. Otherwise you need DOT lights--which some trailer lights would provide. Of course the bumper needs to go back on. Otherwise, that's it.

Of course, a pickup needs a bed on it for strength. Without a bed to stiffen the frame it flops all over the place. You run the risk of working rivets loose or maybe starting a crack somewhere.

Thanks Will, I really never though of what it would do to the frame.

I'll end up making a wood bed for it I guess, kinda hard to find a '78 bed around here.

ya probably know but '73 - '87 Chevys were all pretty similar, one thing I don't know about is the gas tanks locations might be different in the later years... oh and I wanted to mention if ya got a lic. plate, ya might wanna put that on somewhere, preferably by a light.

Well, I got thinking about all the work I would have to put into it, and didn't have the time to do it along with my work/school schedule. It's been sold.

Besides, I like Fords & Dodge better :icon_cheers:
