LED tailgate lights

I'm looking at getting one for my girlfriends Dakota. how reliable are they? i have heard of the plugs shorting out and burning up is that a common thing?

I've got one on my 04 Ranger from Optix. Ive had it for about 6 months and drive it 7 days a week and so far no issues.

I got the white lightning one (Includes reverse lights), been using it for over a year and no problems.

I can't see how the plug would short out any more or any sooner than a standard trailer plug as that's all it is.

Took about 15 minute to install.
