led light bars?

How to mount

Straycat
Where did you run your power wire ?
I have an 08 and am weery about drilling holes in my roof. I suppose I'll have to to mount the bar, but did you nut and bolt it? How do you pull the appolstry down to do so?

mounting and wiring

I know this was an older thread, but I'd also be interested in seeing the mounting and wiring methods as well. I have a curved 50" oslamp led lightbar that I'm getting ready to mount on my 2002 Ranger 4-dr extended cab. I'm trying to find the mounting method that will work best for me. I'd rather not drill into the roof and am looking at different methods. I've been leaning towards some type of headache rack as I also want to add a truck box as well. My ideal mounting location is either somewhere on the back 3rd of the roof or on a headache rack. If a headache rack will work best, not sure if I want to try and find a prefab unit or if it's better to try and make one myself.

I would think that mounting a light bar on the roof would shine so much light onto the hood in front of you that it would limit your night vision. Looks cool though.....

Right, that's why even though I like the look, I don't want to mount the lightbar any farther forward than the rear of the doors to avoid light shining on the hood. I was thinking about a similar rack mount to the one Chrisfix did on YouTube in project night light. Towards the end of part 3 around 26:00 is some good video of what we're talking about.

Although I will more likely do some variant of a standard headache rack as I'd rather not drill into the roof if I don't have to.

That's what I did with one facing forward and one facing back.

Mid mount Yakima Bar?

do you think that mid-mounting a yakima bar would work? i dont want a headache rack and i dont want it at my windshield but i also want the wiring to look PERFECT, do the yakima bars have a hollow space where i can run the wire in through the roof?

Most light bars come with flat mounts that you can mount directly to the room, also the wiring is usually on one side. So if you did it right you would only have like a inch of wiring showing. Also where the casing is probably black you would never see it. Also if you mount a bar up there, then mount the light bar to that it may sit higher than you want and look weird.
