Awhile back I replaced my gauge cluster bulbs in my 2003 ranger XLT with leds. They are now starting to flicker and some are going out. Do I need resistors for these bulbs? And if so what kind and how do I put them in?

You need to use correct LED bulb of course and it needs to be Dim-able, not all are

Google: automotive bulb led cross reference

To see if what you got last time was correct

I'm looking in Amazon right now and nothing is saying dimmable. They are 194 bulbs in the dash correct? That's what the cross reference said the spec was.

Yes, 194s. I don't have dimable ones, but I always run my dash at full brightness, and I used red, so it isn't a big deal.

Check your connections, some might be getting loose.

I run my dash all the way up also. I guess I'll just take the cluster out and put new bulbs in. Could it be the bulbs I got were just cheap?

Its quite possible. I replaced all of the bulbs on the interior of my camper with cheap LEDs and one of them flickers. Luckily amazon sells LED lights in packs of infinity for next to nothing so you can keep swapping them out until it all works.

It's just a pain to get the gauge cluster out. I'd rather not have to worry about them again once I put them back in. I've had it apart about three times now to swap out bulbs. I'm probably just going to invest in some good quality bulbs and swap them all out. Hopefully that works.

I blue ones in mine( profile pic) and I had a few do that just beccause they are cheapys off ebay.

Mine flicker too. Aong others, like the turn signals, air bag light (which beeps every time it gets disconnected). And the battery light, that actually looks like it's on at night because it's always sending just a little bit of power through the bulb, and at night it's enough to make it glow.

Honestly, I'm switching back to regular bulbs. :/

I left all my idiot lights regular 194's.
