I have a 93 ranger with a 3.0, not sure which tranny, but I have a small leak between the tran. and the the tran. extension. They say they dont make a gasket for it, it's just sealant. I took it all apart and cleaned it up, resealed it, and it still leaks!!! Anyone have any suggestions?

did you seal it by putting RTV on both halves and spreading out with your finger then tighten it down after an hour of drying. sealant is tricky sometimes. i did it how i thought the first time......leak....... then i followed the directions.....no leak..... figures.

Did you check the 3 shift rail plugs on the top cover? I replaced the extension housing gasket on mine like you mentioned and after the trans still had a small leak from somewhere. Pulled the top plate and examined the cover, and sure enough thats where the fluid was coming from. Just a thought

thanks

thanks for the advice. No I didnt retighten after sealing that may be my problem. I am not looking foward to dropping that extension and transfer case again, but i guess I will have too. And also the leak is definitly coming from the bottom of the trans. Thanks again for the help.
