LOL, never too soon to plan ahead! The 1tons are going to be a later on project, nothing anytime soon.

As far as all the axle swaping, I never intended on going FW, just too lazy to cut down the HP 44 :D And I always planned on swapping to a 31 spline 8.8. but yeah, lots of swapin!

Kyle....the newest member of the "Axle of the Month Club".....:icon_rofl::icon_rofl::icon_rofl:

Haha, John.

I wanna find a FW 8.8 on the cheap... I don't want to run spacers/adapters. Kyle, how thick are your adapters? And in those pictures showing track width, that was still the EB 44, right?

No, the most recent pictures of the width in the fron are with the full width axle. The spacers are 2" wide in the rear. I picked up the FW 8.8 for 75 bucks. Sold my explorer 8.8 for $150. I am happy and I think it will work out good for now.

Got some work done tonight.....

I offically have the rare 6 lug 8.8

I stripped the old axle of it's gears and started the install into the new FW housing.

I also installed the 'Hobart' locker in my open rear end. No more being pissed at the T-lock

Finished the drive shaft, installed some new U joints and greased it then shot it with a coat of paint

Hope to have it on all 4's again tomorrow night. Pictures to follow.

i hear the lincoln lockers are much stronger....

:the finger: i loved having the spool out back

doesnt the 6 lug 8.8 come in f150's im almost positive thats what is in my 06 but it is 2wd... i know for a fact its a 6 lug lol. disk breaks too

Kris, you are correct, but Kyle's axle was a 5 lug, he converted/drilled it to 6 lug...

And I think those axles are a metric pattern, not the standard 5.5x6

To be honest, I didn't research this, I just made what I had work.

i honeslty dont remember what my lug pattern is lol. all i know is it was a pain in the ass to get my rims for it. everything was in milimeters i just measured one of my rims i have sitting here that i just polished and its 6x5.5 i think im just trying to figure out if you can use one of my style shafts in case of an emergency.

you know the standard 5 hours or more away from home and snap a shaft.

Good call. Wonder if it is a direct swap??

i dunno mine is a 6x140mm i just measured the proper way but as i was doin that my springs showed up:yahoo:

so im gonna go play with those. i dunno much else about the fw8.8 its in my dd and its a 2wd v6 so i dont bother with it past rims and exhaust lol
