Kyle M's Ranger Rebuild

that looks sweet man! it doesn't look to tall...but that's just me.

Keep up the good work man

It is the Handler 187. I have used it a little, all heavy metal and it works sweet. I was using .024 wire first and it was sweet, but had to have the wires speed cranked up, switch to .030 wire and it is even better. Very nice, worth the cash.

ive been lookin for a good 220 wire feed and i think you just talked me into that one. trucks coming along nicely.

Mmmmmmm, air shocks.:drool::drool::drool:

Truck's flyin' along, Kyle. Looks great, I'm loving the X-cab on reg cab frame look.

Thanks! If it's too tall, I can lower it down....air shocks are cool. Then I can take the blocks out.
dont pay no attention to me though i am biased lol...but i really like how its going
thats pretty cool. I wonder what road driving will be like with them. Is this new reincarnation going to see much street?

ive heard to do much road driving it requires a swaybar, now with him being leafs out back it may not be bad but the airshocks have a tendancy to be very soft

Well last time it was too tall, but I was going to take the 2" body lift out and just have the 5" to 6" of lift. I like the tall look, but it wheels like poo. I plan on going to a bigger tire sometime soon, like a 37" so I can take the lift down then too...it is at 24" belly frame height right now.

Alright, somebody tell me this is a bad idea. I was thinking about chopping my rear frame at the rear shackle, moving my spring under the frame, and putting my shackle hanger on the back of the rear crossmember and removing my lift block. All I can see with the mod is good, get to remove the block, put my spring at a better angle front to rear, move the springs in further so I can flex more and allows me to shorten the rear another 6" or so. Input???

if your useing 63's id say its a good idea unless it sits too high....

i thought about that long and hard when i did the 63 swap to keep from haveing to get them re-arched and such, but i liked the idea of the shackle reversal

the flex would be great with a stock 63 leaf though

I have the 63's and a 3 to 4" block in there I would like to remove. And I can put a shorter shackle on it too if I need to lower it......running the shackles the standard way long shackles don't do too much but lift. I know I can get it low enough.

Look at the picture, the front is just about flush with the bottom so I can lower that to gain lift and put it under the frame, then the shackle will go behind the crossmember, maybe lower it to help shackle angle.....i think this would work!

id say go for it....or get it back togather then do it :D

I am thinking get the current build done then wait for when I build the explorer rear axle to move the springs....be nice to only do one set of pirches. I think I will do this, probably do a bed cage at the same time. I still have to box my rear frame section, rear cab mounts(wont tie into the hanger, got a good plan on that one) shock mounts, and wire wheel and paint it. Gonna do this now. I just wish work will slow down(should never say that!), 55 to 60 hours a week is hurting progress!

did u ever sort out the brakes? you definitely do not want the bleeder facing downward. you will never get them bled correctly

here is what you may want to consider......

if you look closely you will see that they have used 2 shackles....one sits flush up against the frame under normal circumstances....but when you need the extra droop travel....ya have it in spades....

When in full droop what keeps the upper shackle from folding the other way? or if you braked hard enough I imagine it could reverse fold as well...

They're actually called revolver shackles, super popular with the Suzuki guys. And to answer your question, nothing really, but some use a brace on the back side to keep them from going more than parallel with the second shackle.
