Kyle M's Ranger Rebuild

Yup, your right, the feed is 3/8 and the return is 5/16, just went and measured it. Don't know what I was looking at before. Glad I altleast know which side the feed is on the rail now, and for anyone wondering, the larger fuel line hookup at the rail is the feed.

You know what psi the pump makes? There are 2 options for hose, 50 psi and 180 psi, but there is about $3 per foot between them. I was gonna run the 50 psi for the return, but for a feed I'm not sure.

the return really doesn't have all that much pressure on it unless you kink the hose some where, its the high side you need to watch for, normally the high side is around 45 pounds, or my ranger was when I checked it when I was having problems.

Well I know on my mustang it doesn't ever go over low to mid 40's and now that I think about it, the gauge is on the feed line. Think the 50 psi stuff would hold up or should I put the 180 stuff on the feed side?

Just me, but its fuel line man. Overkill doesn't exist. I'd get the 180psi without a doubt.

Got my fuel lines figured out and ran, using all factory lines, just spliced the 2 sets of factory lines together.

What kind of locking hubs should I buy? Superwinch ones look good.....don't know though.

This is a little late, but I can see why the V8 swap would've yielded small results(I still had my street truck eyes on!), but what about a forced induction system?

Nothing too extreme, but a supercharger would definitly help on the trail, right?

Just testing the waters, so to speak.............

Well to be honest, it would be cool to say I had it, but unless I became a mud bogger where I used some RPMs, I don't think any power adder would help. The stuff I want to do is slow and steady where the proper gear and crawl ratio will do more for you than power.

Lovin the rebuild!:icon_thumby:

Just curious.. What are your plans for the steering? I used Ballistic's GM TRE kit, and have bind issues, and I only have 14" shocks w/ stock(for now) EB arms. My TRE at my pitman arm maxes out and limits down travel on the passenger side.

Do you plan to run hiems with your high steer?

Thanks!

Steering...not really decided yet, I bought a pair of 3/4" heims to maybe use with my drag link, but now I am thinking of going with the 1 ton TRE's.

As far as high steer, not gonna have it yet, that is a future mod, but I will run the factory EB cross shaft flipped to gain a little clearance and the factory TRE's.

You say you are getting bind, how much down travel are you getting? Have you had your front drive shaft in it yet? Any bind there? I was thinking of limiting my down travel because of these things.

Update time with pictures...

Got my radius arms done and welded, started on the crossmember. Got the axle in position, got the caster (or camber, can't remeber with it is) at about 5*, think that should be good. The arms are pretty long, I wanted the crossmember to not hang down, and the only spot I had to make that work with my long arms is behind the tranny...o-well, see how it works, just worried about ground clearance. Got the crossmember all tacked up, still need to make provisions for the heims.

Think I am gonna pull the motor and modify the engine crossmember, hangs too low

Think I am gonna make another order to Ruffstuff, getting a diff cover and some more heims so I can have and adjustable track bar and drag link, so yeah, all heims in my steering. Then I have an order for summit for a battery relocation kit and a few other odds and ends......still need help deciding on hubs, superwinches, warn premiums....what should I buy?

That is it for now, thanks for looking!

looks good! so are you still going to use the exe cab or the reg cab?

Still gonna use the X cab. Still deciding on the box, or aleast what form it will be, just bobed, or just bed sides with a tube bed.

it looks to me that you have no up movement clearance on the right side arm, look like in the picture is really close to the transmission mount.

Good eye, it is pretty much right on it. I am going to modify it more, or remake it all together, we will see.
