Kroussin 93 Explorer build

I love the new bumper design. Looks awesome. The truck is looking great!

same bumper that has been on the truck for a long time??? am I missing the joke?

the area is referred to as "bling 35" pretty historic road in the area but not a whole lot of people know the story behind it. usable wheelin trails up here far outnumber private property. its pretty well known that if you dont have it signed or gated that you are going to end up with trucks, atvs, SxS, sleds and bout everything else on your road.

does anyone know if I can use a Behemoth "Strong box" or a D.D. "box 4 rocks" planetary doubler to mate a D300 to my m5od ?

I should probably update soon. maybe tomorrow once its back on wheels again.

WELL... i worked on the truck on and off for a couple hours today. made a trip to town and was able to finsih up the rear brakes minus bleeding, pinion gaurd is on. I just needed to get one socket head screw due to bolt head being too close to gaurd to get anything on it. (no pictures sorry) and i worked on the anti-wrap a little more. axle bracket is just about ready to be burned on. still need a bit more grinding

I had to run to town this a.m. in which time i bought a new grinder due to mine finally starting to die. i made a run to the industrial supply store in order to get some thick cut washers to enable me to keep the u-bolts i have allready (removed block) went out to lunch with the wife, and since i sold my atc250es that I was using to plow snow with I went and bought myself a 77 skidoo olimpic 340 and also picked up a project honda trx 125 to fix up for the kid once he is old enough. yeah I was pretty busy today.

yeah things got a little wet when i pulled her in to thaw it out. suspension and undercarrige was packed with slush and ice from playing on a lake.

89 bronco rotors wouldnt fit initially so I had to grind down the backing plates like
everyone else. notice the awsome position of my lift block acting as a spacer for the u-bolts. never really cared for it but it never gave me any issues and worked as a bumpstop extension.

Now notice the springs and u-bolts. not super stoked about the spacers but much much better than the block setup. brake hose worked out awsome. just need to relocate and install the bumpstops that i bought last fall for her.

Anti-wrap axle bracket. nearly complete with grinding it to fit...OH YEAH... Rockin the diamond plate. difficult due to the axle notch's need to be different due to how the 9" center is.

What made you go with that brake setup?

several things. 1 i was replacing the rear shoes more often than the front pads due to mud intrusinon, 2 the brakes often times never worked due being packed with mud, 3 last fall while wheelin in sub-zero temps and having holes covered in 3" of ice we were constantly breaking thru the ice slinging mud and water everywhere and by doing this repetatively the rear brakes on 3 of the 5 trucks iced up so bad we had to keep rolling or they would freeze solid and would struggle to get going. wasnt soo bad for me being locked but the open truck and limited slip truck were just spinning one wheel. all 3 trucks were drum rear the two that didnt freeze were disc's.

Still not sure if I'm going to have to swap masters, only time will tell.

Might a well up grade the master, everything else on the braking system has been.

Dude, get ahold of me or RuffStuffSpecialties for some new u-bolts. I'll hook you up with some 5/8" grade 8 ones if you'd like.

I need to get some other stuff taken care prior to the spring run. As for the master cylinder. If I gotta do it I will get it taken care of. As for the ubolts. plan is to get some ruffstuff one's these will do until get thru the spring run...BTW these are 5/8's grade 8 they are just about 1/4" too short on the threads. still need to get the anti-wrap mocked up in place and burned in.

Would like to get the front bushings replaced. need to reaplace axleseals all the way around which means rear bearings. Build a skidplate for the front diff and then refine and tie up everything

according to the parts store my master is the same part number as explorer's with discs. previously my pedal was nearly on the floor due to adjusters being muched up beyond belief. so if they are better than that I'll be happy

Would you be able to just cut the threads further down on the u-bolts you have now, or does it get smaller below the threads?
