Great time wheelin this weekend. Snow depth between 20-36" maybe deeper in spots as snow on my bumper as evidence by my bumper. not many pictures but a few and hopefully have a video or two this week taken by a buddy. we were too busy having fun
timeline- and highlights due to lack of pictures
worked on the truck all last week after being layed up with a respiratory infection.
Never got my winch fixed but able to borrow one from a good buddy that's truck is tore apart right now and he was gonna ride shotgun in my truck (all parts are back just not assembled for my winch
4 of us in 2 trucks departed at 9am to meet up with another truck close to where we were wheelin and staying. breakfast, long icy drive, uneventfull
meet up at noon with the other truck. broke trail into camp 4 miles down unplowed untraveled roads. explorer did good at 4psi and able to drive straight in no winching or rockin. 1 ton chev on 38 skinny boggers did good a little slow going for him due to bad axle wrap. and the lil jeep on 35's had a heck of a time and had to shovel a few time's (never had to winch tho.)
got to camp put the 5lb venison neckroast in the oven and fire up the woodstove.
unloaded all the coolers and bags.
went to go wheelin and blew apart my clutch hydro line off the as soon as I jumped in. threw in a compression coupling on the plastic line and pulled the snap ring on the master to bleed. fixed in about 20 mins.
went wheelin and found a rubicon on stock tires with nice bumpers and a "good" warn winch stuck on the main trail coming in. winch wouldnt work. he was stuck in out tracks so I burned a trail around him and winched him about 100yards back to the road. didnt even get a thanks from him.
myself and the chev did fine the whole time the jeep struggled the whole time. He struggled so much he burned thru a whole tank of gas and ran out on the way back to camp we had only gone 4 miles from camp. I still had a half tank. he was prepared to leave it there. I was doing well enough I was able to tow him back to camp. best progress was made at about 4 grand in 3rd gear 4lo spinning like crazy. made it back to camp thru the hills takin breaks about every half mile letting the motor take a break and idle (never overheated tho). got back to camp and noticed the exhaust was glowing red hot from the manifolds to the muffler...oops
went in camp for the night and played cards, ate great food, drank too much, and slept good.
packed and cleaned up camp left this a.m. was able to siphon gas from the one ton for the jeep. played on the way out got a little crazy off the trail and got a little hung up in a small gully rockin it back and forth and backed into a tree took out the passanger tail light (DAMN) looks like i'm going to shave the taillights like the mazda.
Got breakfast at a mom and pops diner up north awsome burger.
and here are the only pics I have from this a.m.
the owner of the camp's one ton. 400,auto, 4.10 gears, 14bolt welded, 60 open 38 skinny boggers. incredibly nice guy I've been friends with since grade school.
warming the sploder up
unrigging the jeep we were too lazy and cold to deal with last night
breakin trail out thru the east loop.
