Koty's 91 Ranger Build Thread

They weren't supposed to come off LOL It wont be bad to find

Gotta get the clutch line into the slave I somehow ended up with the newer style brass fitting that won't fit in right. Then exhaust, tcase, put my dash back together and all the body and tires back on and it'll be back in business

Slow progress. Got most of my exhaust welded up and hooked up one side. Need some longer bolts. Also "cleaned " the cat. I only did this to prevent future clogging with it being 20 yrs old. Getting there

Well between being sick and other stuff, In worked on bleeding the clutch cylinder. Before fluid would come out, but now nothing comes out. I've followed all the bench bleeding procedure but can't get it to do a thing . Could it have suddenly gone bad? Seems unlikely but idk

Doubt this will help but I have learned that I cuss at something enough, it seems to work for me.

Haha I got it. Let it sit overnight and through today and she bled in about 10 min

Got the 4.0 running pretty good, got the master and slave cylinders to bleed good enough (I think/hope so), wired a new headlight switch up, rewired the horn and ran wires for a push button start. Put on new battery terminals, installed the tcase, driveshafts, shifter, and airbox. Took care of my vacuum lines and hooked up the wiper fluid/coolant tank. Still gotta wire up the harness for my CD player and test all the electronics, lighting, and electric 4x4, put the dash together and the tires and its testdrive time!

The transmission worked good yesterday now it doesn't wanna shift in 5th without force ... idk

I would get the shifster so that you can get rid of the electric 4wd.

It's mostly all together. The clutch still needs to be bled better and right now I'm troubleshooting my charge system. Wont hold a charge and alternator isn't doing anything even though its fairly new.. gonna get it tested tomorrow and if that's not it, then I'm tracing my wiring down on it

Hopefully there isn't a draw on the electrical system.

If you are using the Explorer harness, how are you getting taillights and brakelights?

I just plugged in the connector that runs them. It was the same year so they were the same.

I feel dumb, had the alternator power on the cold side of the solenoid. Stil not putting out 13-14v but I'll try the 12v I'm getting. Also found a lot of draw from the dome light circuit. Ill try it. Also I can't find one of the radio connectors, maybe it's way inside the dash

Now I feel dumb, I can't find that plug in the original Explorer harness under the hood.

Make sure the sensing wire that goes to the alt has power to it, your alt wont charge without power through that. Thats why my voltage was stuck at 12, then 11, then 10 as my battery slowly died. It is ran through the ignition so if something is screwed up there it can screw up a bunch of stuff

Which is the sensing wire? That may be my problem.

Anyhow other than voltage issues, I've been working on the dreaded clutch bleeding still. Finally got good pedal pressure but its still not pushing in the pressure plate enough. Also gotta troubleshoot the low range still
