Koty's 91 Ranger Build Thread

Sounds like something needs to be shimmed a bit, maybe the flywheel?

Even with my flywheel being eattin into by my old clutch and a new clutch just slapped on in its place, my clutch releases as it should or did before I had my problems awhile back. Push mine in 2-3 inches at the most and my clutch is released. When it wasnt bled right, I had to push it to the floor to release and even then I could hear my transmission internals turrning still plus couldnt shift into reverse without going from 2nd to stop everything from rotating then quickly to reverse. Had to do the same to get into first gear too.

I say if you havent done this, get the biggest bottle of fluid you can and bleed till the bottle runs dry. For me it took 3 times of opening up the bleed screw, with help of somebody pumping like 8 times, holding to the floor while I opened then closed the screw, then us repeating that untill I had a good pedal. That all included me breaking the clutch line and having to start with a dry system.

I pieced together my old and new master and got it working. Its like the pushrod wasn't able to go in far enough. Also the alternator was a connection pulled slightly loose at the fuse. Took it for a test run and she's got some go now! Got back in my driveway and my master line wiggled enough to touch the exhaust and melted it.... gotta start over now! Lol

Fail.

More bad luck. The disconnect sleeve was all bugered up and ended up breaking the slave fitting ... so I spent my evening pulling all my drivetrain back out. One step forward, 3 steps back

I would replace the throw out bearing while I was there if I were you, unless its not that old.

Its new, also the Guy came to look at my explorer today. He builds rock crawlers and has a lot of parts. The deal was $200 and a couple axle shafts, well he gave me 10! LOL 2 d44 sets, and 3 9" sets. Also did some talk about my truck. Might lower my suspension 3-4" and leave the body lift. That will be in the fall though.

I say wheel her with the 4.0 and go from there but of anything take the body lift off.

I wouldn't lower the suspension unless you really have to. I would however remove the bodylift, you won't regret it.

It's just in discussion so far. I'd only be moving the coil buckets up and removing the rear block

Can you show me in a photo the connector from the Explorer harness to the Ranger frame harness for taillights. Hate to think I really wasted my time with my alterred interior harness!

Ill see if I can find it tomorrow for ya LOL.
In other news I got my transmission, tcase, driveshafts, exhaust and master cylinder all in. Took me and 3 guys about 4 hrs along with screwing around a little. . That's with a gravel driveway, no air tools and no Jack (mines broken). Not to bad. Just piddly stuff tomorrow then I gotta pack for the lake on monday

We're hoping for 22+, but will be happy with anything better than 19.
