So after my kick down cable managed to wiggle loose, get dislodged, wrap around my throttle cable and almost cause an accident (and did kick my brakes ass) I have had to cut off the zip ties and re evaluate the whole situation. After having removed all the zip ties, I then decided to try and use some tubing around the cable, and held tight by some small zip ties. After setting it up this way I must say I don't like the way it feels, and it doesn't seem to kick down right. After using the tubing the pedal feels firm, and not in a good way, in a poor responsive way. I think the Kick down cable is the real issue. After removing the old zip ties I noticed that when I press the pedal the opposite way (toward the firewall {not the pedal itself, but the the one that actually attaches to the cable, behind the pedal) the cable has a ton on slack. When its pressed toward the firewall so it has no tension it has like a solid inch and a quarter to inch and a half of slack between the plug and spring.. Like the Accelerator needed 2 zip ties to take up the slack, and the kick down cable could probably take like 10.... Should it actually have that much slack ? how much should it have, because with the pedal in the resting position it seems like I could fit a whole nother spring back there..

Thoughts?

Update

So since no one responded, I will answer my own question, so any other poor unfortunate soul who may come across this may find help.
Also worth noting that most people (can't say all because I am not familiar with what years do and don't) who are using the zip tie method for taking up there slack on the kick down cable (along with the accelerator), there is a little adjustment thing on the inside of the engine bay where the kick down cable goes through the firewall. It looks like a little plastic sideways D. You hold down this D looking button, and pull the cable. It will click a few times, like its being ratcheted. Go inside the truck, push the gas pedal to the floor, and you'll hear it click once or twice more, and your adjusted. No zip ties needed. I know most people probably will still put the zip ties back on so it down shifts a little sooner, but it isn't needed unless you want that. Why the accelerator doesn't have something similar, but it doesn't.
Hope that helps.

Most people don't mess with the kickdown at all..

Just the throttle cable

Well that's not what I've been reading in a lot of these posts....
Most are saying that they take up the slack in both cables (note the bottom text on the throttle cable mod page in the tech library). I'm just trying to say that the throttle is the only one that SHOULD be adjusted, as the kick down had a built in adjustment.
