Keys Stolen, How to replace door and ignition locks?

Autozone sells replacement door locks for your truck, except they are $40 and $50 for a pair depending on what flavor you go with.

I'd offer up my spare set but someone stole them off my parts truck (I hate thieves).

Some junkyards don't leave the keys in the vehicle, but they have them in the office if you ask nicely.

First off I don't know where you all are coming up with 40 to 50 for a door lock set.:icon_confused:

Auto Zone sells them 9.99 for two doors

and the ignition switch is 14.99

both of these items are very simple to change out, and there is no need to go to a JY and buy old worn out parts like this when New part are cheap.

Robert
hmm... I tried searching by his truck info and found them as special order parts....

guess thats what i get for doing a half-baked search while half asleep, lol

Try this

Long story short my little brother is a junkie and a thief. He especially likes stealing prescription drugs and motor vehicles. The other day I was helping my mom with some things at her house while he wasn't there and I left my coat downstairs unattended. He came home at some point and my spare set of keys (they're normally hidden on my truck somewhere in case i lock myself out but i had locked myself out that morning and hadn't put them back in their hiding spot yet) disappeared from my coat pocket. So now he's got a key to the doors, the ignition, and the cap. I went out and bought a club to keep the truck itself from being stolen in the mean time but my stereo is pretty much fair game til i get new door locks.

So, how do I replace the lock cylinders in the doors and the ignition? How difficult is it? Any idea how much this will cost me?

Sorry bout u crappy brother, this will help on any future theft attempts. Find you fuel cut off switch, normally a little black box about 2.5/3" square some where under dash or behind seat. Unplug it save the box dont throw it away. Next find a secrete location you can hide a on/off toggle switch, or if you are electronics capable install a remote on/off switch key fob operated switch. Install the switch in the two slots where the old box was. When you are ready to leave/lock u truck while the engine is still running flip the switch, it will soon run out of gas and die. Leave switch in off position. Lock truck. When u return flip switch to on turn ign switch to run wait 5sec then start. If you are worried about crash and burns leave switch in and install switch in one of the lines that feed it.
