Well bottom line is someone has to pay for it. Right now all I-net merchants and users are getting a free ride on the infrastructure and I don't know who owns or maintains it. I'd rather see transparent and responsible ownership than free and so much ad sheet that you can't use without setting yourself up for advertising inundation...it's already getting that way. It's a big, free 8-lane each way information superhighway waiting for mankind to screw it up is the way I see it...enjoy it while it lasts.

The problem is it will probably end up like cable TV. You will end up paying and get ads.

He's going out of control now, he has his on private police force, even the EPA is now armed, and next hes going to make sure you don't know about it with this.

x2 with tmcalavy. Rather see no ads, and pay more on my monthly bill

you will always have ads free or not. however if net was no longer free you would be told when and where you could go and how long you could use it for @ higher prices. ads are easy to block i don't see about 99.9% of ads on web pages because i actively block them using a firewall and editing my HOST file. then i use ad block plus addon for firefox and also the no script addon as well.. the firewall i use is called smoothwall express if you are interested...

i vote to keep it free because the only ones that it would benefit are large corporations if it were not free...

just my 2 cents

Trans-Pacific Partnership agreement is a treaty/agreement of how trade and investment between the signing countries will be treated by each of the countries.

These types of negotiations are always secret, they have to be for each country to make their best deal with the other countries, and the final "signing" of the agreement does not mean it is "written in stone", changes can and do get negotiated after that.

My take on it is that the "other countries" are behind the US groups who do the, "why the secrecy for Trans-Pacific Partnership???" protests.

Like playing a 6 handed poker game and 5 players getting the 6th player to show his cards before playing, lol, not much room for bluffing or even staying in the game if some one raises you while looking at your cards, lol, he could be bluffing but.........
Point being somethings require some secrecy, and they are not evil things just part of getting a good deal.

Been alive 56 years and free is never free...not in goods/services anyway. Users are paying for the I-net by subjecting themselves to advertising/phishing/marketing/social media/etc., etc., etc. I use it but don't bother going out of my way with firewalls, home files, ad blockers, etc. cause to me it's not worth the extra time spent, and I know how to ignore that sheet. And yep, MWaffles is right...so many distractions and toys afoot that Americans left in Omerica aren't paying attention to the arming of federal agencies under the guise of Homeland Security/Patriot Act, and folks like Mr. Bundy are now domestic terrorists because they object in a tangible way to what the feds are doing. That reminds me, I need to hit the stores tomorrow and buy more shells...been reading about blood in the streets in the town of Chicago, due to the gangs that have proliferated there since 2008. Welcome to third-world Omerica, the future is here. Can you dig it Duke?

Not free in a monetary sense but free from government interference, IE not being able to view a particular website because it is not pro-government or whatever the government doesn't want you to see. As I understand this right now you can access pretty much what you want, if this "trade" deal goes through then the government will have the authority to spy on you without recourse and shut down whatever website they so choose.
I don't really know too much about policies of government but I'd rather err on the side of less governance. In a similar vein, I'd rather see a thousand criminals go free than one innocent person be incarcerated.

It is not monetary freedom although net neutrality is a big concern. It has to do with piracy of intellectual property.

Well, I can do without if we had to. I don't use it a lot. I can do away with cable TV as well. I don't watch many channels. I can watch a DVD or just play the radio if I really have to. Cell phones are nice for emergency's and I don’t use them much. I have a smart phone and that cost money since it has the internet on it. What to do!!! What to do!!!! Well, I can do away with cable and I can do a lot on the cell phone. But what about the time when the prices really go up for all of that??? They got us!!!!

I don't need cable or satellite tv,home phone or even hinge based internet, but home enough to use them for the price they want. I instead have my phone that has everything that I can take everywhere I go for the same price so that's what I did instead.

Internet plays a big roll in my entertainment life, tether my phone to my computer for internet and also do a lot of shopping with eBay, Amazon, etc...

I understand ads and that they pay for what we watch on tv and the internet but there are times where it just gets ridiculous on the amount there is anymore. Was nice when YouTube didnt have the ads when going to watch a video or when Yahoo didn't have that giant add that you have to click out of before you can do anything.

I see it as freedom is something that we have less of everyday, just a matter of time before it's a thing that is talked about in secret societies.

I know I'm a dinosaur, but still haven't done the smart phone thing...yet. Getting ready to do that after we move back to Tejas later this month. At the new house, I'll have Dish TV and their Internet but all this talk about cabling your smart phone to the computer has me wondering...how do you do that? I mean do you have to have one of those wi-fi hot spot cards for your phone and unlimited data on your plan? 'Splain to the geezer how that works.

Our internet is already way to expensive for how crappy it is, charging more for it would be a smack to the face of Americans.
