K.Strong build

I tried pulling apart a spare set of headlights and couldn't get them to come apart to save my life...ended up breaking one. I am just gonna have to break down and buy a set from ebay....

you didn't bake them, did you?

Kirk, did you get the black/clear ones? if i were you i woulda gotten the red ones then put a little bit of black tinting over them... they are plenty bright enough!

I got the black ones. Trying to stay away from the nightshade stuff.

Lol I said tint, not nightshade!

No I did bake them...they just wouldn't come apart no matter what...and then one of them broke so I just stopped

I like the natural black look. If people want to complain that they're too bright I have HIDs I can install too. :thefinger:

I also had the same issue the first time I tried to take mine apart too 03. But well see what kinda magic weezl can make with a case of beer.

i have done 3 headlights, and 2.5 corner markers

funny you should mention the brightness issue, i was driving from cowtown to van a couple years ago, had the bike in the back of the ranger, and was coming down the coqu just about in hope, driving in the left lane, low beams (stock bulbs) and fogs on, and this semi was in the middle lane, and kept cutting into the left lane every time i started to pass... so i finally muster up the courage and stomp it past him, he flips everything he has on, into my mirror (lights) so me being a prick, i grab the cb and say "turn the lights off you ______ retard!" he makes some snappy comment about how i can talk, then goes on to bitch me about about comin down "guns a-blazin!" so i proceed to tell him how i've got my stock lowbeams on, and fogs pointed at the ground, and that if they are too bright for him, he should re-consider his choice of professions, and that if he really wants, i can pull in behind him, flip the high beams on, the fogs, and my ipfs (which are in the grill and he wouldnt have seen) and see if that bothers him... they have a combined total of a little less than 500watts... slightly more than the 110 that come off of the 2 low beams... he shut up pretty damn quick, and of course, the lights turned off

i do kinda want to get a light force and mount it rearward to blind people that do that to me... light forces are super bright, but you don't get the wicked beam that you do off of the IPF...

My marker lights were easy...I don't know why my headlights have to be so damn complicated

I saw a picture of yours. Now I want some clear corners! Except I've spent a bit too much on the truck this week and I have still yet to pay for my OOP inspection.

It really changes the look of the whole truck, I kinda messed up the driver's side but it is barely noticeable. The headlights I am going to get come with black corners as well, so I will probably sell them if you are interested.

And spend the last of my money so my GF well violently cut me up into small pieces?!?!

How much?

the heads take a lot more heat to separate than the corners

They were in there for probably 20 minutes...it wasn't all at once though (four 5 minute bakes)

If I remember correctly you bake them for almost 15 minutes at once.

Yeah, I think I did 12 the first time around, and it was nowhere near hot enough to get them apart...

4x5 minutes does not 20 minutes make... That would be closer to baking a total of 10 minutes...

Like I said, I've not heard of anyone melting the headlights, I wouldnt worry too much about it, get it hit so you can just pull it apart with your bare hands...

The guys on the civic forum (where this mod originated from) made an "oven" out of a cardboard box and a heat gun, the heat guns I sell at work have settings of 400* at the lowest, and they pumped that air in for around 5-10 minutes...
