My credo
A legend to the old man, a hero to the child...
On my Grand Cherokee i noticed K&N makes a cabin filter.

I drive dirt roads alot, as well as parking at a very dusty farm for work.

The idea of wash, oil, reuse is kind of appealing...and at the risk of sounding like a latte sipper...do these filter as well as the factory style paper ones?

Its 37 bucks but 3 changes it would pay for itself.

Anyone use one?

I'd just go OE personally. It may be a bit more money in the long run but the OE filter will absolutely filter out more crap.

I just bought a bosch hepa filter. The dealer wanted to change it when i got an oil change (for 37 bucks)...i didnt even know it had one.

I was curious cause ive heard K&N engine air filters can be less then stellar in filtration.

You went from “1979 F-series - We die like men!!!” to “Should I put an aftermarket Hepa filter in my hermetically sealed HVAC system?” really fast.

It's a Jeep thing. You wouldn't get it.

My wife changes the cabin air filter in her Subaru once a year.

That's all I know about them.

K&N filters work fine as long as they're cleaned and reoiled periodically. I used to see K&N's on customer diesels that were so dried out the element was almost white, and turbo fins eroded from ingesting dust. If your diesel engine is dusted, your wallet is going to take a hit. I'd run a Motorcraft air filter and change it as needed.

You really want to breathe air filtered through oil?
It takes 2 days to service the K&N on my Mustang. I pull it out, spray it with cleaner, and hose it off. Then it sits overnight to completely dry before I reoil it. Not ideal for a daily use vehicle.

I breathed burnt oil for years driving my 2.9's...valve covers leaking on the manifold...right in thru the cowl lol.

I didnt think about that....i think ill avoid it and just use OE style.

I think the OEM style filter is the right choice.

I like K&N filters in the right application. We always used a pre-filter of some sort in conjunction with the K&N though. UNI-Filter (foam) or Outerwear (nylon bag). Extreme dust... dirt... sand was expected... and welcomed.

Never run one in a daily driver...
