Hello All and thanks in advance.
I purchased (yesterday) my first Ford Ranger.
1999 XLT 4.0 Automatic 4x4 166,000 super clean.
I was aware that it had a problem with reverse as well as knowing its a common issue with these trucks so I purchased it fully knowing about it.
I started cleaning it today and making a list of the little things it needs. When I went to pull it into my shop (the owner drove it to me) I noticed the gear selector on the dash is off with the marker. When I move the shift to R and N is feels just like neutral in both positions. I already found the instructions on adjusting the cable and wanted to ask if this would also cause the no reverse issue or is this just a visual cosmetic issue?
Thanks,
Scott
