Oh, doing a straight rear swap would be easier than doin gears alone. To get the pinion depth, you really need to pull the rear out anyway. 3.08 geared Explorer 8.8's are pretty easy to find. Ranger 8.8's too.

I gots to have the exact width from drum to drum....the rear tires only have 1/2" clearance next to the bed & next to the fender...

What rear's in there now ? Then there's always spacers. If you wanted a narrowed 8.8, Im thinkin on selling the Ranger. It's 52" axle to axle. 15 X 10 Alum. Slots fit inside the 89's Fenders. As do the Cragar V5's on it now.

I found it! It was on the axle......

according to my Tech Library lesson.....It's a 3.45(I musta measured wrong when I spinned the driveshaft to count the revolutions/ratio to the rear wheels)! 7.5" '89 March de 14th........Somthin/Somthin......I don't remember the drum-to-drum distance...will measure tomorrer....

Just look for a 90-93 with a 4.0, it should have a 3.08 and will be the same width as your 89.
