Just Plain Stupied

Here's a puzzler for you.

When I speak to a lot of my older customers about how this area used to be when they were young, something I hear quite a lot is something along the lines of...you could go here for the best subs, you could go there for the best car parts, this one guy had his own shop and knew everything about Plymouths... All their references are about quality and what's the best.

If you talk to people now they say "Oh you can go here they've got the best price, oh go there nobody's cheaper" Even in advertisements today it's always "Nobody beats our bargains"

What happened?

dang DG that sucks! ohh i have pics in my thread now for you!!!

It gets worse....I wasn't feeling too good today & wasn't paying attention to the speed limit....ZAAAAAAAAAAP!!!!!!! $125 ticket....1st one in 25 years!

There goes some bling for the Ranger this month!

Dont you at least get a warning, was it with a person cop or one of those cameras? I would try to fight the ticket.

yikes!!! well 25 years is a pretty good run though

I went back to the scene of the crime.....there was a 55mph sign that, in a tired stupor, looked like 65mph to me.....LOL.... at the time I was feelin so bad that I mis-read it.....as soon as I passed him & his lites came on......I pulled over...........about 150 feet down the road..................................................in front of a 65mph sign!!!!!!

There's bad luck going around, I tell you! My compressor just blew up last night. Right before I broke my lower shock mount, of course.

Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahahahahahahahaaa this....

I just bought a sheetmetal bending tool.......time to get those leaf spring covers made & make a radiator fan shroud.... since the A/C is installed, it needs the extra cooling power on the radiator in traffic......

:icon_surprised: Where's the pics??????????????????????????????

The cupholders? :icon_thumby:

The cupholders? :icon_thumby:

Nope...I bought $.89 temp. cupholders....

this be next..most needed....

top & bottom sheetmetal is bent for radiator shroud.....(because eee-lectric fan won't fit with long-nosed water pump in the way)...

the back-porch brake is assembled & the upper/lower shroud ends are cut to size/bent......

fabbed pieces are clamped to radiator.....upper piece first.....

.....

Final bends are made to side pieces......it's now a frame....

the sheetmetal is cut to width & length.....now it needs to be laid on a 18.5" diameter cardboard cut-out & welded into a circle.....that's the strip(s) laying next to the 36" metal yardstick......

STREETROD (80).JPG

Now.....to get out there and make the hoop/ring/funnel/venturi/whatever you call it......to encircle the fan....back to gorajjj......
The ring is made and welded to the shroud frame...upper & lower sheetmetal is added to fill in the gaps above & below the ring....

STREETROD (79).JPG

Front view......and yes...the 5 coats of gloss black are not for rust prevention...they are applied to hide the welds....RHS !!!!!!!!!!!

I'll let it dry overnight....then pull the 4 mounting bolts outta the radiator/frame and install the fan shroud...the the grill & hood goes back on!

(The truck never overheated all winter, but 95* temps daily with the new A/C kep the temp at 195*....I prefer 180* or less during the summer....that way if the temp. spikes.....195* on a really hot day still won't overload the cooling system)

Man.....that's a big air hole....the fan didn't look half that size....the radiator/shroud brackets had to be modified to fit around the fan shroud...bad pic.....

Tomorrow.....hoses get connected....coolant.....transmission cooler connected.....95* test drive!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Note: As you can tell...this rookie learns as he goes....most of the time....LOL
