very purrtyful!! on a side note DG you got the exact same watch my stepdad has an one that im getting soon:icon_bounceblue:

sorry men.....i fell asleep at the keyboard last night & forgot to log out...(hope the keys don't short out from the drool)

looks like there's a split decision on which engine should be in the '36 RRRRanger.....

here's the deal....I've spent a couple days-off & on- trying to solve the fuel problem....

#2 & 3 cylinders ain't hittin as we all know.....I installed a fuel pressure gage & hot-wired #2 cylinder injector &the fuel pressure dropped 10 lbs. real fast......the same thing with #3 injector

So now i don't have to yank the fuel rail ti see if they're squirtin.....

so I switched spark plugs with two good cylinders.....2 & 3 are still dead...
so i checked voltage at both injector connectors.....good...13 volts...
so i said-maybe it's loosing voltage when it's under a load.....so i connected a spare injector to each connector & power braked the truk.....spare injector quit firing!!!!!!!!!!!!
so i recheck voltage at each connector.....I'm geting 13 volts out of both wires on EACH connector!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

why is that happening????????????????

Another few things...........

A) Sounds great.
B) How did it pass inspection with the miss?
C) Why do you have a sbc engine, whats it for?
D) Would new injectors fix the problem?

Another few things...........

A) Sounds great....Harley Davidson mufflers
B) How did it pass inspection with the miss?...At the time-it was only missing if you gasve it more than half throttle
C) Why do you have a sbc engine, whats it for?....I wuz supposed to install it in the '36 Ranger while I pulled the 2.9L & rebuilt it
D) Would new injectors fix the problem?...I've been reading up on the problem---it could be 1 bad injector shorting out the other two injectors on the same harness, OR , it could be a bad ground in the harness, OR, it could be the ecm going stupied, etc.

Anybody got a fix......anybody......(I got a fix....but i isn't sayin it yet..Waaa)

waaaa i know your fix!!! i think??? who knows... my minds consumed with how im gunna changeded my water pump on my truck so it can run!!!

Will it throw a code???

Sorry...I forgot to mention that I busted my code-reader...guess I'll plug in a test lite & count blinks tomorrow...Up-date.....can't get the ecm to send any codes...nada/zilch...anybody got a idea

But there is some good news.....I remembered that I had a similar problem at the beginning of the project (no signal to the injectors)....cleaning the crud/corrosion out of the harness connectors solved that problem...Up-date....cleaned ALL connectors agin..
(no more steam cleaning the engine!!!)

This time I pulled the #2 & #3 spark plugs/dry as can be.....so I plugged the noid lite into the injector connector....cranked the engine & it was flashing just like everything was O.K.......go figure.....for some reason I checked the voltage at the tan wire....12 volts!!!..that ain't right...the red wire gots 12 volts also!!!

Too many wires with 12 volts....so I stripped off all the old wrapping on the harness & found the red wire bundle-splice rubbing into the tan signal wire to one of the injector connectors....I re-wrapped the whole harness....

Now it's hitting on all 6 all the time ABOVE 1800 rpm & holding 32 psi at fuel rail.......:yahoo:

But below 1800 rpm....it's starving for air or running way to rich...it won't idle!...UP-date....wayyyy to rich...cough/rub eyes
Before all this, it idled great but wouldn't get above 50 mph....

Now it'll do 105 mph....but won't idle at a stop sign.....(thought I read some where that the O2 sensor inputs from idle to half throttle---if that's the case...it's telling the computer to squirt too much gas at lower rpms which is why it idles better when i start yanking vacuum lines aloose....:annoyed:

I've got the problem surrounded...LOL...I un-plugged the MAP sensor vacuum line and un-capped the vacuum fitting next to it....now the engine idles smooth at 1400 rpm....way too fast....back to square #2 (better than square #1 though)Up-date....tested OffIdlewhatever.....not functioning...installed new one...idling 90% better...
Still runiing super rich!!!!....tested TPS/good ground & good voltage at connector....BUT....no resistance on any of the 3 wires coming out of the TPS(it's been acting up for 6 months)...
Headed to AutoZone....i got enough point for a free TPS...:D

News at 6 !

EDIT: It's idling a lot better, but still blubbering out the exhaust & blowing smoke rings,,,,:annoyed:

Ohh...i forgot.....ain't old trucks fun......(most o the time....)

^^^^What he said the sbc engine runs great, why screw with the 2.9, you've done this much work why not just put it in?

I hates to give up on sumthin....I got the tires smokin on take-off BUT it's still runnin so rich it's actually blowin smoke rings out the dual Harley exhausts.....LOL

There's a car show in Biloxi Miss. this week-end that I'd like to go to.....that would give me the inspiration to innnnnn-stalllllll the sbc...(blackwidow)..:headbang:
