Just Plain Stupied

I finally modified the OEM Ranger xmsn crossmember to fit the R700 chevy xmsn.....I already shortened it to 30"....I turned it up-side down & slid it into place under the rubber R700 xmsn mount...I lowered the xmsn until there was clearance between the top of it and the floor of the truk.

I needed another 1/4" of clearance...so I notched out the 2 ribs of the OEM crossmember 1/2" deep by 4" wide....then I welded a 1/4" thick piece of flatbar into the notched area to beef up the crossmember and also get the 1/4" clearance needed so the xmsn would sit correctly.

I drilled a new hole in the steel plate of the modified crossmember so the bottom stud of the rubber mount could be bolted in place.

While I was there I installed the other cat on the drivers side exhaust.

Tomorrow I have to drill & bolt both ends of the modified xmember to the frame rails.....annnnnnnd shorten the drive shaft bout 5"......practice practice practice.....

JULY 2022...I LOST THE PIC OF THE TRANS. MOUNT FLIPPED UPSIDE DOWN AND BOLTED INTO PLACE AFTER I LOWERED THE SBC.

Friiiii-day......
Back to the go-rajj this afternoon to finish bolting the crossmember & Re-(LOL)-shorten the driveshaft.....

Ya know...I think once you finally finish building this thing, even after you finally sort out your cupholder dilema...you're going to secretly hope something breaks so you have an excuse to start wrenching on it again.

Just a hunch.

But until then......I just re-redid the driveshaft.....I used a dial indicator....and managed to get it straighter than the OEM shaft....Waaaaa!

First off thank you for your service to our country!

That has to be one of the most whacked, bad ass builds I've ever seen. You are a man with great vision and an incredible eye for detail!
