Just Plain Stupied

It had #64 original main jets........I replaced them with #60 jets & got 4mpg better on the highway & I can still burn rubber when I feel like it........

I'm gonna try smaller jets until the engine stumbles on accelleration....then I'll increase the jets size by 2 sizes.....I'm lookin for good gas mileage on long trips....I'll check the gas mileage soon & let you know what it is...(350 cu. in. bored .030 oversize...flat-top pistons....medium-rise intake....holley 600 4-barrel.....700R4 with 3rd & 4th gear overdrive....OEM 3:21 rear end....225-70R-15 B.F.'s on rear end)

if you don't need drag strip power you can actually lean out the engine quite a bit. Remember to check spark plug color: the more you lean her out, the more pale the color of deposits. If they are white, you are in danger of burning valves. You could try water mist injection to cool when running lean. Also keep an eye on tailpipe deposit colors.

an inline fuel pressure regulator set low can also help. just remember to set the pressure up when racing or heavy hauling.

Since your truck is so light, that SBC does not need a whole lot a gas to get her moving, so re-jetting the carb indicates a fella that knows what he's doing. Keep it up doorgunner!:icon_thumby:
