I have been a reader of this site for some time and have finally collected parts to start my build. I purchased a 1997 4x4 ranger with a auto and the 4.0, this truck had been wrecked so it was mainly for the engine and spare parts. I also purchased a 1994 with the specs that would be the builder.
Now for the parts list.
1997 4.0 into 1994 ranger
Fm146 trans for now because it was free until I can find m5od
D&d 1350/1354 doubler, both manual shift
4.56 gears, welded rear and lockright up front
64" rear springs with belltech shackle
6" xj skyjacker coils,f250 shocktowers, 15" extended radius arms
760x u joints and warn hubs
Not sure on shocks or steering yet
35x12.5x15 goodyear wrangler mtrk

How do I go about posting pictures? I have a photobucket but im not very good with a computer to figure it out. Thanks

Above the message board theres a little yellow square. Click that, it gives you a spot to copy and paste the link from photobucket.
I was wondering when you'd post pictures.

All I have to use is my smart phone and I cant seam to get it to post any pictures?

On my smartphone I use Tapatalk app. There is a plus inside a circle to the left of where you write a reply. Click the paperclip icon and then either pick gallery if you have the pic on your phone already, or pick the camera option and take a picture. Click the check mark and the pic should show up.

Edit; I posted this answer with my android phone and the picture was taken of my laptop while doing so.

Engine is out of 97 and ready for 94. I did notice a few differences with the wiring harness with both trucks. Im sure everything will have a place to plug in though.
If anyone has any input on this I would appreciate it. I have all the parts from the 94 engine, it was all taken apart when I bought it. Thanks

pretty sure you'll need the entire harness and computer from the 97
your 94 is obd1 and the 97 is set up for obd2

I have no experience with the engine swap you're going to do. Me, I'd just jump in and figure it out as I go, probably trying to use the 94 sensors on the 97 motor. There are others that have a lot more experience and hopefully they'll chime in.
Good luck,

Richard

The 97 had a auto so I assume I will need a computer for a manual since I will be running the fm146. Ill head to the tech articles and do some research.
I will be getting the 8.8 back in tomorrow.

I think I will just put the intake from the 94 on the 97 so I don't have to change the complete harness. Should be simple, I already installed the non egr exhaust manifolds.
