My internet connection is too crappy for searching. I'm sorry if this question has been asked alot..

If I recal correctly, James Duff carries a v8 swap radiator for RBVs. I also recalling them bein' a tad pricey.

Are there any suitable stock radiators that will be easy to make fit into a Ranger for a v8 swap?

I know it would not be a direct bolt in, like the J.D. radiator would be, I'd just be lookin' for somethin' that would have the inlet/outlet in the correct place, would be around the right size to fit in place of the RBV radiator, and would be adequate cooling for a stock 302/351w.

I'm using one for a V8 Explorer. Bolts right into the '98-up, but I'm not sure how it fits in the earlier Rangers.

I've read a brief amount about using an Explorer radiator out of a automatic 4.0L with A/C. Anyone have anymore information on this? Specifically, if I'll have to run a v-belt or a serpentine water pump?

I've run my original '91 rad with my 351 for a year now. In the hottest days of summer it was fine while driving down the road but on the trail, slow moving, I had to have my electric fan on almost all the time to keep the temp under control. I don't have A/C anymore and the fact you live in Texas, you might decide you need something more substantial. Last week I got myself a brand new aftermarket stock oe rad (2 row). I suspect the old one had lots of 'stuff' in it from over the years.

I use a universal 26x19 aluminum radiator from Jegs. The thing is massive and only $179. It cools my stroker with no problem at all. For a few bucks more you can have a brand new radiator that will easily cool you engine with no problems.

Well, I'm askin' about the explorer radiator, because my cousin says he can get it to me for free. He's a wrecker driver, and his dad is a mechanic.. So they have quite a few vehicles sitting around.

If I HAVE to buy one, it'll be the universal one from Jegs.

So... Anyone know about the Exploder radiator? Specifically which belt set-up I'll need on the motor to make the water flow the right direction.

$300 Aluminum Radiator

I thing this radiator on Ebay may work great, but it still cost about $300.00.
Looks like it slides up under the radiator support nicely. I dont know of anyone who has actually bought one.

Thanks Hjcraver. But there is no way I'm gonna spend $300 on a radiator. I just need to know about the Explorer radiator thing right now. I'm gonna keep searchin', but I'm not havin' much luck.

I run a rad out of a 94 Explorer and it cools my V8 just fine. I modified the core support with some stainless I had. It is tucked up under the core support and I run a flex fan with plenty of room to spare.

Was the radiator from your 94 Explorer for a 4.0-V6 ?

Was it a 2 or 3 core radiator

The 94 Explorers only came with the 4.0 v6. If it was the automatic trans with A/C its the "super cooling" radiator. My question for you though, red85....is what belt setup do you run? v-belt, or serpentine? That is ALL i really need to know.

Maybe I'm askin' this the wrong way...

When running the Explorer radiator, do I need a regular water pump, or the reverse rotation water pump?

um, what does the rad have to do with the water pump?

I thought you had to have your inlet on the radiator on the correct side...which is dependant on which direction of flow your water pump has...
