Hello Gentlemen!
And ladies if there are any...

I just purchased a 1991 Ford Ranger 2.3 L 4 banger! I absolutely love her. I just had a new muffler and rear brakes put on, all my belts and hoses are good! However, I’ve been filling my radiator coolant reservoir and it is leaking. I am assuming that this could be an exhaust leak or? I’m not experiencing any hissing or strange sounds.
Before I go run to a mechanic, especially as a gal, I want to know what I’m talking about.
So come on guys, give a girl a hand.
I ride a motorcycle too and enjoy learning how to take care of these vehicles that bring me joy!

First....welcome to TRS!

Second an exhaust leak isnt going to cause coolant loss.

Do you see any visable drips/streams of leaking coolant? Passenger side carpet wet? Heater work good?

If its not leaking externally then its internal, as in a blown head gasket, cracked head, or cracked block.

Nice truck. Welcome to the party!

Hi Rusty!
OK my heater works amazing!
And yes passenger side leaking coolant.
The original is still in there but it’s rusted I can check for passenger side....
Just checked appears to be some dampness right under the seat area.
The dripping is min now but I had her our earlier and I had a puddle. I filled the reservoir after seeing it was empty and having filled 2 days ago.

SO, it seems to be leaking externally.
It holds coolant for a time then leaks and puddles.
Starts great, no smoke or strange noises.
So....? It’s what?
Lol

Welcome!

Some things to know... We firmly believe that Railroads, Birds, and North Dakota don't exist. Don't go in the tailgate if you've recently eaten, and don't believe ANYTHING you hear about my furnace.

Best damn advice I’ve heard in awhile.
At least there wasn’t anything about gloves and face masks Dirtman! Thank you!

I believe in railroads and birds. And I think I actually rode a train through North Dakota in 1988. But these guys will crucify me for saying that. Hope you have a good sense of humor.

OMFG... If he lives in North Dakota then I’m safe. If not I’m gonna have to prepare myself.
Thanks for the heads up Bobby!
I’ll go out now and take some pics.
