Josh40601's Build Thread. (D-ranged)

just took advantage of a couple labor day sales. 3 link kit with Barnes' new Enduro joints ordered, along with all the brackets and tabs to hopefully get my 44/9" under the heep. :headbang:

Fall Crawl is coming up quick!

all the old brackets cut off and ground down from the 50, and going to get the 9" all cleaned up tomorrow. After that, going to start working on reworking the engine cage and getting the under hood welding knocked out.

so today started out here:

pulled the old axle the rest of the way, removed the shocks and arms, then cut the welds off the bumper to get it out of the way. (the guy who was doing most of the building back in SD tacked the bumper mounts to the frame)

So then I disconnected everything I was afraid of cooking with the torch

Then I went to cutting...

First was the battery tray. The battery will not be in the engine compartment, so i wanted to get rid of that to allow some wiggle room for other things i may want under the hood

Next up were the 94 radiator support mounts. They were useless to me since they didn't line up, so off they went.

Then I pulled the bumper and could really start to see things happening now

The last thing I did before coming inside to knock out some homework was cut off the passenger side sock mount

I did get the gussets cut out on the driver side, but was getting real close to lines and wires, so decided to wait until tomorrow and use the sawzall to finish it up

Good mini update, Josh.

You going to throw the battery in the bed?

Aside from the battery, what else do you disconnect when you weld on the frame?

uh, nothing? lol

i don't even disconnect the battery. The only reason it is disconnected now is because it is getting moved to the bed

Sounds like a good way to fry an alternator or pcm.

learn something new everyday. I didn't know that

it can happen...but it's rare. On semi's we take the time to do it...b/c the PCM's are like $2800 each. Normally on my B2 I don't disconnect anything.

New to me wheels

paint the lip around the D-openings yellow....
I love raceline wheels...

na. The catch was 2 rings are aluminum, 2 are steel. Just going to paint the aluminum ones black to match the steel ones. Love the look of polished monsters with black lips and zinc coated bolts

missing a few lug holes....:D:thefinger::thefinger:

guess ya slapping the half tons back in...
