that is shitty business regardless of whats going on. i've dealt w/ people that have called me back even when he lost his father, he just called and said what was going on, he called 22 people that day. that's customer service!

bad customer service, over anything, spreads fast and will hurt a business quick! my outlook on DD has changed b/c of this.. and one day i was gonna order a doubler.. still might, might not.. who knows

He said he was going to shut down the shop during this summer, but instead left it open and the customer service is teh suck.

Don't let that fool you though, the shit this guy makes is THE SHIT. Out of 3000 kits, only 2 breaks, and he sent them the parts to fix it quickly. The guy seems nice, just has too much demand for 1 man shop. I am all about small businesses making it, but i had to draw the line today.

Duffy Dieu. The owner of DD Machine, which is the only company currently producing a 1350/1354 Doubler kit.

he also makes many other doublers and machine shop parts, but again, its only him. So customer service is no bueno. He does stand behind his products though. If you can get in touch with him

He has the market cornered so he can pretty much do whatever he wants. Everybody knows hes hard to get ahold of at times and has heard bad stories but yet they all order from him. Why? Because he has the only kit. So he can pretty much do what he wants. Sad but true.

He is sitting on a gold mine if he could produce the kit quickly and have some real customer service. He doesnt even advertise anything. All his info is spread by word of mouth.

you're exactly right. He even knows it! He told me, "I know everyone complains about me being hard to get ahold of, but they don't understand i am a 1 man deal. You call Poly Performance, there is someone there answering the phone, and that is their only job"

He made good points, and i still think he needs to re-evaluate his business practices. he knows where his problems are, he just makes the excuse that he is too busy to deal with it right now.

^ Depends on how you look at it. From my talks with Duffy, he strikes me as an older fella which might make this more of a 'fun retired' job that he does for grins. If that's the case, then him being hard to get ahold of makes sense.

If it turns out he's just a middle aged dude, you're right, and he could use some sort of dist. network for his goods.

Duffy said he probably wont be doing the 1356/D20 or vise-versa anymore. He said he is doing a 56/56 and a 56/D300 though.

The guy talked my ear off today (46 minutes to be exact) and we talked about all kinds of doublers, crawl boxes, his shitty marketing, his fight with Camo on Pirate, and on and on and on.

Like i said, dude seems like a nice guy, just wish he'd call people back! That was my only complaint. Its not that he doesn't answer the phone, its that he doesn't return calls. That drives me ape shit. And i told him that.

I took the old 450 coils off, and put on a set of 200 coils on top, and moved the 300 coils to the bottom. I'm not too happy with the change, as it doesn't seem to flex out any better than before. Maybe it is due to running 2 14" springs? Still not sure, but i am glad it lowered the front end down.

im dont know exactly what the length will do for compression, but i do know that the lower ppi coil is supposed to be on top, and should be 2" less than the travel of the shock, and the higher ppi should be 2" longer than the travel of the shock. ie: i have 14" travel shocks, i went with 12" 200 ppi, over 16" 300 ppi lower coil. with a pretty damn good amount of travel. i love the ride on the street, and its awesome in the dirt and rocks.

see that is where my problem is then. I am running a 14" shock with 200ppi/300ppi, but both shocks are only 14". So I will probably try to pick up a set of 16" 300PPI coils.

Well, still no doubler.... Called Duffy twice yesterday, and nothing. Still have the claim in through Paypal though.

I did do a little body work yesterday.... Holy shit sheet metal is thin.... I kept burning through it, so i slowed down, and used a shit ton of tack welds to piece everything together. I made the filler panels with scrap sheet metal and cut everything out with a 4 1/2" cutoff wheel... Man i miss my plasma...

Here is after i got the 3 pieces i cut in place. I tacked everything first (no pic), then moved into the booger-the-shit-out-of-everything step

I then took a 36 grit flap wheel and went to work...

^Got it pretty smoothed down, so i moved on.

There were a lot of holes and gaps that i had to fill in with weld (well i didn't have to, but i did anyway. You can see some in the pics, some you can't

It was after dark when i got this far, and i can't use the grinder after dark at my condo, so i have to wait until tonight after work to finish. I will grind all the boogers down, and shoot some Krylon yellow spray paint over it. Color matches pretty good, so it will be fine for the bed.
