Ive come to the conclusion....

More true then you know :p

Yes sir,

there comes the time when one realizes that you're not as young as you used to be, and you cannot perform the same things you used to in a timely manner, put me in that same club as well,

Had surgery for arthritis on both of my thumbs last year. They remove the arthritic bone in the base of your thumb and detach and move a tendon from your wrist to your thumb. Good times. Didn't have shit for grip any more, I'm a funeral director and dropping bodies and caskets is a bad look. It's better now but not great. I'm getting ready to buy a bigger compressor and an air ratchet for the tough stuff.

Rusty, just give it up and buy a 4.0 Cammer. You won't know how to act with all that power. :icon_rofl:

I spent the afternoon in a soft rain re-making the Rat's ground between the battery and the starter. It was more comfortable working in the mist than soaking in sweat before rain started. Simple stuff takes me 10 times longer to finish than it should. I'm retired and generally move around with pain, stiffness and weakness. Pain and stiffness is bearable. The weakness in my left hand is compounded by messed up chest muscles due to a radical mastectomy on the right. I just wrench on the Rat when I feel like it. I have 2 Camrys that just need oil changes.:D

I'm 47 I'm a big guy at 6'4 300 pounds I hate the weight gain I've picked up.But i'm looking to get back down to my 250.

But i went out a bought me a lift some time ago and just dropped 5000.00 for a metal covering building to keep the hot sun or rain off me that use to drive me nuts now i'm spoiled.

I now sit under my truck and us my sm air gun to work on my front ends.Yes spending the 2000 for the lift sense the cement was already 4 inches thick.

I went out and bought me a 10,000 pound lift and 2 years after that bought the metal building an ran Air in galvanized 3/4 inch pipe with water drops in it with blow out ball valves. It works flawless..a friend installed a water separatier. 6 months ago.Never knew it was there.

Tried the PVC gray pipe it lasted 5 years then started to crack and one day sounded like a grenade went off.So glad i or my friends where not in the shop when it blew

But a lift is the big helper in tools if you have room in your yard the the city dose not bitch. It will save your back and make the jobs go easier

Strength im not really having an issue with. I still got pretty good grunt but its the tiny miniscule things in tight places i have issue with. Busting stuff loose isnt bad, its trying to put the plastic clip in the fuel line, or hold the alternator while i line shit up type stuff....

A lift would be freaking awesome. I wish I had the place to put one.

I have a roughly 80 year old wooden one car garage. County says it was built in the 40's. Ranger just fits lengthwise, floor is all cracked up (but hey it is cement) I get NO airflow thru the thing at all, I have a box fan and as long as I stay in front of that I am ok.

I have been tempted to sawzall a hole in the back wall and get a window unit...

85 ranger if you have any room. You can always pure some concrete and put one of them skinny metal building up cost you $2700.00.Peace of advise Make sure you build it some where if your laying under your truck you don't drown. If a wave of water come in while your under your truck LOL

I have plenty of room to build, just no room in a current building to install a lift.

I would love a 30x40 Morton building right were my garage is now... room for project AND tools.

My next garage will have a lift.

Some days I am tempted to clear out and burn down the existing one just to make getting a building permit easier.

Your suppose to make it easy not harder when you get older.

A friend of mine told me a 3000 square foot shop should have 5 of these tools in it.

A working 2 post lift at least a 9000 pound or grater.

Next a good air compressor an a reserve tank.

If your shop has room over head run your hose reel's and light reel above you..Never run PVC with HOT and Cold weather Spend the money the fist time use 3/4 inch pipe galvanized pipe and put drops ball valves at the end of the drops so you can blow out the water

Tire machines To what it cost to get your tires fixed or mounted now days its a No brainier.Plus most of the guys that know you have one you can do a lot of trading or make a little side money.

Plasma cutter and Wire feed Miller.Last thing Have good tools and places to put them

I just recently Helped a friend Clean out a old school 2 years ago they wanted all the scrap metal hauled away. They throw away 45 deep metal cabinets the real tall ones and throw away 10 fire & paint and oil cabinets.

I put them in my 3500 SQ foot shop at my house.I had a few shelves took them out got 9 of them side by side.

They had a few dents in them and some of the handles where broken.Did not get keys. But lucky they where all unlocked.

On top pf them I put steel 1/4 plate i picked up off of a scrap job i did so i can put my Tools that are in my plastic cases Like Rear axle bearing puller Kit from Matco.

I bought a Snap On 1988-1995 Brick code reader for OBD1 1980- 1995 and OBD2 up to 2006-2011 payed 250.00 with all the attachments and cards for Are USA car's and trucks and Import as well.It works good.

I have this thing If i have a shop I want to find any thing on 2-5 mins.

I hit a batch of good luck the same school was redoing the school Library. They throw out 4 of there metal 8 draw metal card cabinets. These go for more then 500.00 on eBay.

There grate for Nut & bolt washer and other parts.I have 2 of them in my shop.

It took me almost 11 months to separate nuts bolt washers screws lock washers.

An then came separating metric Nuts and bolts torq bolts.I cleaned out a auto shop 2 years before guy had the small oil cans full of odd nuts and bolts.

Plastic parts.Yes everything is used but i don't have to go to the junk yard looking for a one off Bolts or Metric NUT with washer.

I have guys come over all the time ask me if i ever seen this kinda bolt of if i have this washer or metric Nut takes me 2-3 mins that i hand it to him.Guy payed 10 to 15.00 but they take spares back to there shops.

So you need to set your shop up where you can fix anything

Old nuts and bolts as long as there not bent or striped Keep them.Even them Fame metal clips that the metric bolts that hold your bed on them mothers are expensive.

Any plastic parts for are rangers hold onto them.Interior screws Plastic Rubber hoses the rubber end peaces for the vacuum. All that makes times working on your car or truck bearable

Your friend is right.

I am planning on a 10K lift. I currently have a 60 gallon compressor, no reserve tank (no place to put it) plumbed overhead with 1/2 black iron. Four air drops, each with it's own shut-off, in addition to the main shut-off at the air tank. I also have a 20T press with pnuematic ram, and a 20G parts washer. I also have a make-shift AC service setup.

I want a minimum 200 sq ft at the next shop, but 3000 would be better, it WILL have a lift (the wife has already agreed to that) and I will be looking for tire equipment and maybe a brake lathe.
