My credo
look up before u look down
The story goes I need to replace the injectors so I removed air intake wiring harness and valve covers because the where leaking good the I noticed the air intake manifold that sits on the bock is extremely dirty so I take that of to clean it

So I get it all back together with new gaskets vacuum lines injectors and a really good cleaning ready and nothing turns over no run

So I made sure that the tdc is in sync with the distributor and grabbed a sethiscope and the injector for the number one cylinder is working and it is

I decided to buy plugs cap and router the hole nine yards and nothing now it is trying to start itself turn the key to auxiliary and turns over with no command

Please help turns over in auxiliary and will not run but turns over

Reads like you have some bad wires somewhere.

On an '86 you should have a starter relay on the fender near the battery, it is where the big red battery cable goes to.

There will be one smaller post on the starter relay, it will be labelled with an "S"
There should be a red wire with blue stripe attach to that post.

The red/blue wire should ONLY have 12volts when key is in the START position.

If yours has 12volts when key is turned to accessory or run then it is either the wrong wire hooked to "S" or wire is shorted with another wire that has 12volts when key is in the other positions.
Could even be an ignition switch problem but more likely a wire issue since it just became a problem after you moved wiring around.

Engine will only start if key is in the RUN or START position, there is no power to coil or injectors in "auxiliary"(accessory) position.
Your first job will be to track down why is doesn't crank in START position.

Make sure you are using the Red/blue wire on the starter relay, and trace it back to either the transmission(automatic) or to the clutch pedal(manual).
Then it is still a Red/blue wire from either of the above and it will run to the ignition switch under the steering column.

Ok I will track that wire and make sure its all good but could it that be the reason as well why it won't run but I know we have to fix one problem before another and dumb question but have to make sure. The distributer goes clockwise cylinder 1 at 12 o'clock then 2 3 4 at 6 o'clock 5 then 6 and 1 again I been messing with it a lot I believe I got it where it needs to be as far as timing thanks members for help

What engine?

In an '86 Ranger with 6 cyl I would assume 2.9l
And no, that would be the wrong firing order.

Look here:
http://www.therangerstation.com/tech_library/2_9_Page.shtml

About half-way down the page is the distributor diagram for 2.9l.
The crank shaft rotates two times for each one rotation of the distributor, this means TDC mark passes 0deg two times, once for #1 and once for #5.
Remove spark plug #1, rotate engine clockwise until you feel compression(lots of air coming out) of #1 spark plug hole, continue rotating engine until you get TDC mark to 0deg, the distributor rotor is now pointed at #1 on the cap, if not you can either pull out distributor and realign the rotor or change the wires on the cap so #1 wire is where the rotor is.

When engine is cranking to start, the spark and fuel needs to be turned on for engine to start, if engine is cranking with key in "auxiliary" position then spark and fuel are turned off, so no start
