Is TRS the best forum on the web?

Which reminds me, mine is due for an annual.
The sooner the better. They'll add in some improved noise insulation while it's in for maintenance. Makes it a lot easier to take calls on the morning ride in.

All the staff, mods, what ever else:
How does all this forum stuff work? Is it a business of some sort? I Imagine it has to be since there are sponsors, memberships, and money floating around. What kind of costs are there... hosting, legal? Does it pay for itself or is anyone paid? How is staff recruited? How much/ what kind of work is done to keep the forum from fading away like most probably do?
It's all voluntary staff. Jim is the owner. He started all this. There are costs to running a website. Hosting fees, domain name registration, possibly security software, etc. Membership fees go to all that. I'm not sure how much advertising helps. But membership fees get you ad-free. In my mind, that's well worth what Jim charges. That's the simple explanation.

There are a couple people with superpowers (admins) who do the heavy background programming and designing, monitoring security, updates, etc. The rest of us moderators watch the forums, get rid of spammers, approve new users and keep things peacefully and family-friendly. It takes time every day from several people.

But we are all just volunteers who love it here and want to keep TRS going.

@Jim Oaks

Looks like @Blmpkn and @Chapap have paid for supporting member subscriptions.

Just give him a minute... last I knew he had some family things to deal with.
Thanks.

My girlfriends father suddenly passed away, so we're dealing with that this week. He's 1.5 hours away from her and 3 hours from me, so I found myself out of town unexpectedly.
