Sorry for asking such a simple question but... i am in the midst of tearing the whole front end apart to add a locker (ended up going with aussie), do the C-clip eliminator, add manual hubs and all new rotors and pads, along with replace seals and wheel bearings while im there. But i had a hell of a time getting one of my spindles off and in the process unknowingly dinged the surface a few times, i test fit it on the rotor and its doesnt want to go in through the inside bearing. Would it be okay to burnish those dings out until its smooth again or did i totally botch this spindle? i thought i would just relace them but damn! new ones are 150 (used) - 275$ (new) i dont really want to drop that money if i dont have too, but if these are done please let me know and ill end up with a new one.
Will little dings like that affect anything with the bearings?

As always thank you in advance for all your help

Me being cheap would go out and buy a very high quality mill file and very carefully file down the high spots. Take your time and don't go any more than you have to. If it doesn't work you can probably use pretty much everything on a new spindle.

Agreed, you should be able to smooth those out (all's not lost).

Next time though, use a block of wood over it before you beat on it. (or beat on it with the block of wood) :D

They said it all. Should be able to clean that up.

also, soft dead-blow hammers and brass hammers are your friend.

Thank you guys! and yes this was a bit of a rookie mistake... i had my rubber mallet but it wasnt doing much, so as most mechanics do, if the hammer you have isnt working it must not be big enough  i even was hammering through the ABS sensor hole with a big punch and NOTHING so i got a little crried away. But next time i will for sure try using a block of wood or something so i dont mess up another expensive part. and if harbor freight has a cheap brass hammer that sounds like a good investment as well.

i have some nice small very fine files ill try and then some emery cloth ( same stuff we use on metal propellers) around too for a final clean up

again thank you all for your valuable input
