Or does nobody use a cb anymore? i just hooked mine up tonight and i love it! the only problem is its dead silent unless you ask for a radio check. :dunno:

Well, it ain't as popular as it used to be, but for people driving on trails, and for truckers wanting to BS it still is popular. Typically helps to be on or along the interstate however.

yea i didnt get anything from my house, my antenna is a short range so i only get most signals when im close to the highway

Its great on the highway when traveling cross country. really useful to know wait times at checkpoints, traffic, cop info, etc

How much was your CB?

The CB in my Volvo is almost never making any noise. I only use it because the ethanol plants call you on 22 when you give your load info. Having the CB beats walking all the way in to the office. Other than that all I hear is static, guys that work for the same company BSing, and the occasional hooker looking for "company".

There is little activity on CB in most places.

I'm located near US-50, I-5, CA-99 and I-80 and I hear a little activity from truckers and people traveling. Other than that, I hear a few people up in the Sierra Nevada using them on camping trips and trail runs.

figure out how to twitter, facebook or text with one and i bet you bring them back

50BUCKS?!!!!! You officially suck. And cell phones are the reason why noone uses CB's anymore. However the cops still use them for a damn good reason, free, reliable. No charges by the minute or month. GO to a CB shop and get your radio peaked and tuned, Invest ina good power handmike and my preference for range is K-40 whips. But antennas are really up in hte air.

well my swr meter helps me tune it for each channel. it has a calibration setting. its also has a knob for a dynamike feature. im gona assume its to boost voice clarity. all in all im happy with it. just wish i used it more. i do like your "But antennas are really up in the air" bit :icon_rofl:

I think the dynamike feature is more of sound effects/ echo control isnt it? Its a little different than powermike which is for stronger transmission strenth, but I could be wrong. I normally am.

"Dynamike" is Cobra's fancy name for the mic gain control (all it does is control the volume input of the microphone to the radio).
