Is a SAS the only option?

Not trying to be argumentative, but a SAS rig doesnt have to beat you to death. My SAS'ed BII rides nice and smooth. Get lots of compliments from passengers on how nice it rides.

But we are getting a little off-topic here.
I would still like to see someone ditch the radius arms and link a TTB

Gwaii has done a parallel 4 link with TTB already.....theres pics of it floating around here somewhere.

I hate to burst everyones bubbles but they have been doing 4 linked Ttb for a while, one of the old rough riders race trucks were done that way back in the 80s-90s.

I have a dezert race truck that uses Ttb, I just built really long radius arms so I don't get much caster change

Your not bursting my bubble, I would just like to see them. Haven't turned anything up but a couple pics of gwaii's.

No matter how nice and smooth your straight axle rides, both tires are still connected together. There is a reason why trophy trucks don't have straight axles. With an independent front, one tire can be bouncing all over like crazy and the other tire can be tracking perfectly. Not so with the straight axle. Any thing that effects one tire effects both! At speed it can have a devistating effect.

Trophy Trucks? WTH, I thought we were talking about trail riding, rock crawling, etc with our RBVs; not racing trophy trucks

in my situation a stright axle is not realistic as my max tire size will be a 35 and as of now until i can afford something else its my dd.

So if money was not a option, what would you have?
A built chromo d-60 running 40+ tires, coilivers, fourlinked bla bla bla.
Or still running a TTB?
Be honest now.

For most its not a matter of which one is better, its a matter of overall cost, space, time ect ect.

Lets be honest, if i had unlimited funds.........
Chromo tube buggy
Supercharged 5.0L w/alum heads
Atlas three speed 1:1 - 4:1 - 5.5:1
Rockwells 2in overson shit all around
49 irocs on double beadlocks

Also consider hybrid axles (14bolt steers or the f106/rockwells)

Awsome throttle responce, moderate tire size for 2in ouverson axles, fairly light weight... You could beat it do death and be pretty confident of not beakin it.
For what i do, thats the best, of the best, of the best. It would SUCK in the desert or on the street.

THERE IS NO PERFECT SET UP. If there was, all our junk would look alike.

If you're building a hard-core rock buggy and want to run 49" tires, there really should be no question at all as to what are good axles to use. :icon_idea:

That is not the purpose of this post.
This post was specifically intended for those running 33" or 35" tires on their truck and wondering if an axle swap is something they should be looking into or not. For someone who might simply be dealing with a tire wear problem or with stiff springs that don't flex, there are other (far easier) ways to fix such issues than swapping out the whole axle & suspension (which this post aims to address).

Please, lets try to keep this in mind here when posting.

My thoughts on this. I have 35s, 4.88s, Lockrite lockers. I have off roaded with fullsize 4x4s. They were shocked my TTB didnt not explode into 1 million tiny little pieces. One guy even had some kind of super Dana 30 in a cherokee with chrome moly shafts. I think he spent around 3k$ on it. TTB works fine unless you want to go hardcore.

So I've been looking for the right jeep springs to use. I airway have a 6 in lift on my 94 super cab ranger 4.0. I'd like to keep that ride height. Been having a hard time trying to figure out what springs I should go with 8in springs to compensate for the weight? It's been hard to find the ppi for the springs in looking at. Also would I have to get longer radius arms and if so is there a write up on how to fab some up? I do have a welder.
