Past couple weeks I've had fuel pump issues. The truck would run as long as I held the key to start position then die right after, or run for a second then die. I thought maybe compression issues the first time but it didn't do it again until just now. I turned the key and listened. Sometimes the pump full 2 or 3 second cycles, other times it didn't cycle at all, other times it cycled a half a second then stopped. I replaced the fuel pump over a year ago, the fuel filter 3 or 4 times in a year, and just recently one of the relays under the hood, but I don't remember if it was the EEC, fuel pump, or WOT if I'm even remembering the names right. Almost seems like a short, any ideas? Its only done it when the truck has sat for a few days and its cold outside, if that means anything, and I can get it to run after a couple mins of trying.

Take the electrical connectors out of the plug for your fuel pump relay and clean them. I went through three fuel pump relays on my 88 before someone here recommended cleaning the connections, Mine has been working for the past few weeks anyway.

What did you clean them with?

I used a wire brush to clean the insides of the female connectors. The factory dielectric grease was more like a yellow gritty glue after being under the hood for 24 years.
