I go to Baran Institute in East Windsor CT.....It's a Auto Tech school kinda like Wyotech....but cheaper LOL
Anyways in class today i was talkin to my teacher about my truck (95 4x4) and how i wanted to get an 8.8 out of an Explorer...and he said "while your in there get the DANA 44 front end too" And i was like..."What, I thought the ex's had DANA 35's just like the Rangers??" and he said prior to '94 you can find an Explorer with the DANA 44 front end.

Now he was a Ford certified Mechanic for 10 years...I would think he knows his Ford's.....I guess not....cause this is NOT true right??:icon_confused:

THANKS:dunno:

you should pull the 460 out of that explorer too.

He is sort of correct.

How he is correct:
The late '70s F-150 Explorer had the Dana 44 front axle.

How he is wrong:
The Explorer SUV never had any front axle besides the Dana 35. To this day, the 2010 Explorers still have the front Dana 35 axle.

.

If that was the case, he then should've been trying to correct funkingonutz that the "Explorer" had a 9" rear axle, not an 8.8".

Someone definitely doesn't have it all together.

I can't believe you guys forgot about the manual t-case! GOSH!

Tell him if you were a shit-eating dog there would be nothing left but his boots.

Never trust anything anyone says unless they provide references. Then, after you check their reference, you can trust what they just said.

Right now, you can get on dana.com and find the axle book in pdf format and show up for class with a list of all axles that were built by Dana and came in any light-duty vehicle.

He is wrong, as are most parts look up sites. If you go to the motorcraft site and look up front wheel bearing grease seals it will say 'with dana 44'.

Front Wheel Seal BRS22:
2.5 ID X 3.3 OD X 0.450 THICK - w/DANA 44 AXLE

they exist... I have a manual T case from one in my garage (pulled it myself), planning on getting another to put in my explorer...

I am betting he got his wires crossed with the Bronco. Not everybody can be a walking encyclopedia.
