installing question

when installing amp and speakers behind the seat on a single cab...how do u mount it? do i have to take the back panel off (the panel with carpeting) and bolt them to it or is there another way?

i think you can mount the amp under the seat, and are you talking about subs or mids?

a sub. ive seen pics with the amps and sub boxes that look like they are bolted onto that back panel. is there enough room to make the seat fully movable if i were to mount the sup under the seat? im just gonna go with a small 2 channel amp bridged to like one 8. nothin insane (been there done that) just something to add a lil kick.

it is possible, it all depends on the dimensions of the sub, and the box volume the sub needs. i think you might need to raise the seat up if you put the sub under it, the amp would fit just fine. if your using a small enuff sub you can fit it in a properly builot box behind the seat and still have room.

whatever amp your gonna be using, be sure to fit check it under the seat before buying/installing. i would look for a shallow mount 10 like pioneer or kenwood offers and fiberglass a box to fit back there, once again be sure to fit check your sub allowing for box room before buying/fabricating.

you can mount the amp to the back panel and then build a wedge box for the sub. thats the way i have mine set up.

ok thanks for all the info...i thought about what and how i wanted to do everything and i think i got i...anyone know the dimensions needed for a 8 in sub? i know when i had my 10's it was a cubic foot (but this was back in the early 90's and im sure speaker technology has gotten better)...im thinking something like 10 cubic inches should be good?

done about a dozen installs in this truck
the easiest way to mount the amp is either on the box or on the back panel of the truck

the carpeted section is easy to remove just remove the 6 screws on the metal trim piece above and remove it

then with a little of manuvering you should be able to pull out the carpeted panel
mount the amp on the carpeted panel then put the panel back.

you should pick the sub first. then find out what the manufacturer suggests for whatever enclosure you plan on using.

for instance, my elemental designs 9kv.2 (their 8" sub) could be used in a box as small as .2cf. their ideal sealed box recomendation was .35cf. so thats what i used
